# Chikn

Avalanche's Premier Upgradable NFT Gaming Ecosystem

**Chikn is an ecosystem for interactive, upgradable, and gamified NFTs. Our ecosystem is the largest and most active on the Avalanche blockchain, and one of the most innovative across all of Web3.**

* Idle and active gameplay
* Pioneering upgradable NFT infrastructure
* Non-custodial staking contracts
* Poultry-themed LARPing with the greatest community on the blockchain

At its core, Chikn is an idle game built around the interactions between NFTs on your farm. Chikn lay $EGG, $EGG earns $FEED, and Chikn eat $FEED to grow bigger and lay more $EGG. There’s a bit more to it, of course, but these fundamentals comprise the foundation of our novel ‘Tri-Token Architecture’ gameplay and tokenomics.

## &#x20;                    How to chikn.![](/files/zhR5Gz01eeaUoCp6DXrk)

Chikn hatched onto the scene in November 2021 with a collection of 10,000 unique chikn NFTs that lay $EGG. The success of the initial release was followed by several more, each adding additional gameplay elements to the ecosystem. Today, the Chikn ecosystem boasts tens of thousands of unique NFTs, multiple value-driven tokens, and proven gameplay mechanics that have remained stable and enjoyable throughout market turmoil.

While Chikn is cemented as the premier ‘blue-chip’ NFT collection of Avalanche, our vision takes us beyond the confines of the barn. Our pioneering token and upgradable NFT infrastructure are available to others through Eggnite, making Chikn the ultimate platform for NFT and Play-and-Earn game launches on Avalanche. With each addition to Chikn, the ecosystem grows even stronger.

This introduction provides a brief overview of the Chikn ecosystem and the myriad tokens, NFTs, and gameplay elements within. You can use the sidebar navigation to skip to each component's dedicated section for detailed overviews.

If you’re new to Chikn, we recommend reading this introduction and jumping to [Getting Started](/getting-started) to get an idea of where to begin. Our passionate and friendly community on [Discord](https://discord.gg/9znHkBYjra) welcome new players and can be a great source of information if you have any questions.

# Tokens

Everyone knows that chikn lay $EGG. $EGG is the primary gaming token in the Chikn game and is fundamental in the wider ecosystem. All chikn lay $EGG that can be used throughout the game, in most cases requiring the tokens to be burned.

Gamers need $EGG to play the Chikn game, but also to engage with partner projects. We work to ensure that $EGG has ever-expanding use cases and burn pressure across the broader ecosystem. This includes being used for NFT and game launches hosted by Chikn’s launchpad Eggnite and, where possible, direct use inside the NFT collections and games themselves.

<mark style="color:red;">But $EGG isn’t the only thing to keep an eye on when farming. Updates to the Chikn ecosystem introduced $FEED, $FERT, and $WORM, each adding additional layers and intricacy to the game.</mark>

Every token in the Chikn ecosystem is designed to balance emissions against burn pressure to ensure stability and longevity of gameplay.

# NFTs

In our case, chikn came before $EGG—but only just. Our first NFT collection of 10,000 algorithmically generated (and some unique) Chikn hit the blockchain in November 2021. These crypto hens are one of the core pillars of the Chikn ecosystem, providing holders with a continuous source of $EGG tokens.

A game about managing farm animals would be nothing without, well, a farm. Our second NFT, FarmLand, gave players a home to call theirs and a hub to manage their LP Farm. FarmLand can be upgraded by burning $EGG, increasing the number of LP rewards users can hold and periodically revealing new tiles of random rarity.

Our third NFT release—Roostr—saw activity on Avalanche spike to its highest level ever during its mint. Roostr are a great source of the fertilizing $FERT that improves the productivity of FarmLand LP rewards and provide an affordable starting point for those looking to get involved with Chikn.

Beyond the birds, new NFT collections will expand the Chikn ecosystem into the future. These NFTs include items that provide critical boosts during gameplay, as well as NFTs from partner projects that are integrated into the Chiknverse or launched through Eggnite.

# Gaming

<figure><img src="/files/Q7YPzD8YVdvmYOuFH8cp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The goal of the game of Chikn is to upgrade and collect NFTs, collecting tokens as points to rise the ranks in the leaderboard. Gaming starts with a fundamental concept: chikn lay $EGG. $EGG can be staked to earn $FEED, which can then be fed to chikn to make them bigger and lay more $EGG.

What makes Chikn dynamic are supply restrictions on $FEED and modifications provided by other components in the ecosystem. This adds a competitive element It’s possible to play Chikn with only a chikn, but to get the most out of your roost you need to explore the way other tokens interact with each other.

Roostr, for example, can be fed $EGG which allows them to produce $FERT. You can use $FERT on your FarmLand to increase your LP farming multiplier, allowing you to earn more secondary tokens (like $FEED or $WORM).

An update in October 2022 introduced Foraging to Chikn’s idle gameplay. Foraging allows players to send their chikn and Roostr out to forage for Resources on their FarmLand. The kinds of Resources your poultry pecks up is determined by the tiles on your FarmLand.

Resources can be crafted into Item NFTs which you equip to your Farmland to boost foraging productivity. Crafting these items requires the corresponding Blueprint NFT which can be found in your WormFarm. These items will continue to play a role in both idle and active games in the Chikn ecosystem.

# Ecosystem

Chikn is more than just avian-themed NFTs. Our ecosystem includes tools and partnered projects that expand what you can do in Chikn and on the blockchain more broadly.

Our Eggnite launchpad is one of the most exciting updates to hit the ecosystem. Eggnite is the perfect place for partners to launch NFTs with the backing of the largest NFT community on Avalanche. Eggnite isn’t an open door—we take care to ensure that every project that launches is vetted for quality and adds value to the ecosystem.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/pwV4ZHnWPKJLSqSrDtP9" alt=""><figcaption><p>Chikn just want to have fun.</p></figcaption></figure>

As community and decentralization are fundamental to Chikn, our ecosystem will eventually include a DAO that puts community participation first. This DAO will govern the Chikn treasury and vote on key ecosystem functions.

Chikn provides a range of public APIs that allow developers and gamers to query the Chikn protocol. Our community are passionate about their chooks, which is why many have developed third-party tools to enhance the Chikn gaming experience. Check out the [Toolboks](/misc/toolboks) section for a list of some of these, and be sure to join the [Discord](https://discord.gg/9znHkBYjra) where our community share their creations with the world.

Chikn is here for the long haul and we’ve got a lot planned for the ecosystem, but remember, we do love surprises. We’ve got a lot of exciting features coming up that we haven’t explicitly announced, so make sure you’re following our announcements for all the latest updates.

# Getting Started

What came first? The chikn or the $EGG? If we’re speaking chronologically, there’s a clear answer. But if we’re talking about how to get started with Chikn, **it’s a very different story.**

The Chikn ecosystem is always evolving, and if this is your first time here it can seem a little overwhelming. But just like other games, a little bit of time and experimentation is all it takes to get familiar with the mechanics of Chikn.

<figure><img src="/files/ToVKqfElGTgJcxtkBlRh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In this guide, we’ll go through one possible path to entering Chikn that closely follows our chronology. But remember, there’s more than one way to crack an egg: this is by no means the only way to get involved, and other ways to start with Chikn work just as well.

# Glossary

There are some terms that you’ll come across regularly in the game. This glossary will give you an overview of the key terms you’ll encounter—to learn more, read through these docs to get your head around them all.

<div><figure><img src="/files/ep8NVzeW1dvLIHs36Uvs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/WR1Vqs831GGs88XjC7tj" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<mark style="color:red;">**chikn**</mark> – The first and greatest chook on the blockchain. Chikn are NFTs that lay $EGG. You can feed your chikn $FEED to increase their KG—the higher the KG, the more $EGG they lay. When we talk about the NFT collection, we usually write ‘chikn’ with a lowercase ‘c’. If we’re talking about the ecosystem as a whole, you’ll see us use a capital ‘C’ for ‘Chikn’ instead.

<mark style="color:red;">**Roostr**</mark> – Everyone knows that chikn lay $EGG, and Roostr squirt $FERT. $FERT can be used to fertilize your FarmLand, increasing its reward multipliers. Similar to chikn, the higher your Roostr’s KG, the more $FERT they produce. To increase Roostr KG, feed them $EGG. Remember, you need to feed hungry fellas at least 1 $EGG per day to keep them producing $FERT.

<mark style="color:red;">**KG**</mark> – The measure of size used for Roostr and chikn. The higher the KG, the more tokens produced. In metric terms, KG means ‘Kilograms’, but in Chikn, KG = KillerGainz.

<mark style="color:red;">**GP**</mark> – Roostr experience GrowingPainz (GP) when they increase their KG and grow biggr. It's effectively a cooldown that restricts how quickly you can level your Roostr. GP can be skipped by giving your Roostr $FEED.

<mark style="color:red;">**Roost**</mark> – The combined collection of all your staked chikn and Roostr. Your Roost gives you an overview of all the $EGG and $FERT you’re producing and lets you know where you sit in the overall KG leaderboard for size.

<mark style="color:red;">**The Barn**</mark> – The Barn represents the entire roosted ecosystem and is based on the combined totals of all Roosts.

<mark style="color:red;">**FarmLand**</mark> – Your home away from home in the Chiknverse. FarmLand is home to the Chikn LP Farms that allow you to farm tokens like $FEED and $WORM. Using $FERT on your FarmLand increases your reward multiplier, giving you more tokens for your proverbial buck.

<mark style="color:red;">**Bigness**</mark> – The measure of size used for FarmLand. Biggr FarmLand can hold more reward tokens from LP Farms before they need to be claimed. Every 5 increases to Bigness reveals a new tile on your FarmLand which adds to its rarity and play an important role in the Foraging minigame. You’ll also want to increase the Bigness of your FarmLand to increase the size of your WormFarm.

<mark style="color:red;">**Foraging**</mark> – Put your Roost to work and send them out Foraging on your FarmLand. When your poultry goes foraging, they return with Resources that can be used to craft items.

<mark style="color:red;">**WormFarm**</mark> – WormFarm is an important part of Foraging and Crafting, allowing you to discover more resources at a faster rate and unlock crafting blueprints. The WormFarm lives under the soil of your FarmLand, so a bigger land means more worm potential.

<mark style="color:red;">**LP Farm**</mark> – To earn tokens like $FEED and $WORM, you can stake Trader Joe LP tokens in one of the LP Farms on our website. Accepted LP pairs include EGG/AVAX, FEED/AVAX, and FERT/AVAX, although others may be added in the future. LP Farming is the fastest way to earn rewards.

<mark style="color:red;">**SSS**</mark> – Single-Sided Staking, or SSS for those looking to save time on keystrokes, is an alternative to LP Farming in the Chikn ecosystem. Rather than contributing liquidity in pairs, players can instead opt to stake a single asset for rewards. SSS is available through the Roost portal, but keep in mind that rewards will be lower, unstaking penalties may apply, and, depending on what’s cluckin’ in the Chiknverse, might not even be available.

<mark style="color:red;">**$EGG**</mark> – The main token in the Chikn ecosystem. $EGG is laid by roosted chikn and can be burned to upgrade FarmLand, feed Roostr, unlock naming services, secure mints through Eggnite, and access other features throughout the game and ecosystem.

<mark style="color:red;">**$FEED**</mark> – Released through LP Farming and used to increase the KG of chikn. All $FEED was released into circulation on December 09, 2022.

<mark style="color:red;">**$FERT**</mark> – Produced by Roostr and used to increase reward multipliers on FarmLand as well as foraging yields.

<mark style="color:red;">**$WORM**</mark> – The hardest working little token around. $WORM is harvested through LP Farms and can be deployed inside your WormFarm to reduce foraging times and unlock crafting blueprints.

# Starter Guide

This guide assumes that you have some experience with blockchains and understand the basics around transacting, including token swaps and liquidity provision.

Chikn is built on Avalanche, so you’ll need an Avalanche-compatible wallet with AVAX tokens to pay for gas and NFTs. We recommend using MetaMask and making sure you’re connected to the C-Chain. [Check out this handy guide for help setting it up](https://support.avax.network/en/articles/4626956-how-do-i-set-up-metamask-on-avalanche).

Our community is our greatest asset, and we think you’ll have a great time hanging out with us on [Discord](https://discord.gg/9znHkBYjra). Make sure you join our server and introduce yourself—if you have any questions or doubts, the community is always happy to lend a hand.

This guide is only meant as an overview. Check out the dedicated sections in this documentation for detailed information on each aspect of the Chikn game and ecosystem.

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;"><strong>1. Get a chikn NFT</strong></mark></summary>

There are many ways to get started with Chikn, but one of the best is to get an NFT bearing the project's name. When you roost your chikn, it’ll start laying $EGG that can be used to access the rest of the ecosystem.

Chikn NFTs are currently available on the chikn.farm marketplace and through OpenSea, although we recommend using the former. On the [chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm/) website, head to Market > Chikn to explore the chikn available. You can sort by rarity, Kg, price, and traits to find the chook with the look that you like the most.

As a cheeky bonus, your chikn might come with some $EGG already laid! Chikn uses a revolutionary non-custodial staking contract for chikn roosting, meaning that you can Roost and list your NFT for sale at the same time. If you purchase a roosted chikn, it’ll transfer with whatever $EGG it accumulated in its previous owner’s Roost.

**It is entirely possible to play Chikn with only a chikn NFT.** If you’re extremely patient, you can earn enough $EGG through staking to swap back to $AVAX and purchase every other NFT in the ecosystem, and in doing so unlock paths that will earn you all the other tokens needed for the game. Most players choose to buy other NFTs and tokens to speed this process up significantly.

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">2. Roost your chikn</mark></summary>

With your chikn in your wallet, head to your Roost. This can be found by heading to [chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm/) and navigating to Chikn > Roost. Follow the prompts to roost your chikn and begin harvesting $EGG.

Having said all that, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to skip this step entirely. Most chikn (we’re talking around 99%) are already roosted, meaning that you won’t need to roost them again if you purchase one from the marketplace.

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">3. Get a FarmLand NFT</mark></summary>

Give your avian friends a home—get FarmLand. Like chikn NFTs, FarmLand NFTs can be purchased by navigating to the marketplace on [chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm/). Navigate to Market > FarmLand and explore the different options available. Make sure you check the tiles already unlocked on the FarmLand you decide to purchase—some are rarer than others.

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">4. Get into Farming</mark></summary>

Your chikn has been busy laying—now it’s time to do something with all that $EGG. Chikn farmers can earn tokens by staking $EGG either in SSS or in Trader Joe liquidity pairs.

SSS is the most straightforward option. Head to Chikn > Roost and look for the SSS panel on the right side of the screen and the prompts to stake your $EGG to begin earning rewards.

There are some downsides to SSS. In general, SSS distributes rewards at a slower rate compared to LP Farming. $EGG staked in SSS are also delicate. When you unstake your $EGG, your clumsy hands will naturally fumble the bag a bit, causing 8.3% of the unstaked $EGG to break. Breakage doesn’t occur with LP Farming.

Players looking to get more rewards quicker can instead get into LP Farming. This option is more advanced, and if you’ve never added liquidity before, we suggest doing some research on what it involves, including Impermanant Loss.

To add liquidity, head to the [EGG/AVAX pair on Trader Joe](https://traderjoexyz.com/trade?inputCurrency=AVAX\&outputCurrency=0x7761e2338b35bceb6bda6ce477ef012bde7ae611) and add some liquidity to get LP tokens. If you’re feeling impatient, you can always buy some $EGG from the exchange to increase the amount of liquidity you want to add.

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">5. Get a Roostr</mark></summary>

Just like other Chikn NFTs, Roostr can be purchased from the marketplace on [chikn.farm](http://chikn.farm). Head to Market > Roostr and get yourself a handsome coq.

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">6. Roost your Roostr and get some $FERT</mark></summary>

On [chikn.farm](http://chikn.farm), navigate to Roostr > Roost to begin roosting your Roostr. Sorry we said ‘roost’ so many times.

Remember to feed your Roostr $EGG every day to ensure that it produces $FERT. You can then use this $FERT to upgrade your FarmLand and increase your LP Farm reward multipliers.

Like chikn, most Roostr are already Roosted. If you buy a Roostr that’s already in the Roost, you won’t need to complete this step. Neat!

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">7. Feed your chikn and Roostr</mark></summary>

Watching your chikn lay $EGG will cause a chemical release in the brain, triggering a desire for more $EGG. To get more $EGG, feed your chikn with $FEED.

All $FEED is currently in circulation - you can pick some up on secondary markets like Trader Joe.

Your growing chikn is laying more and more, so put that extra $EGG to good use! Use the $EGG to feed your Roostr and get some $FERT or use it to expand your FarmLand. Rinse and repeat the cycle—that’s Chikn in a nutshell!

</details>

<details>

<summary><mark style="color:red;">8. Stay active in the community</mark></summary>

We’re always releasing new updates to the game, so make sure you’re following [the Discord ](https://discord.gg/9znHkBYjra)for all the latest from Chikn!

From here, you might want to check out Foraging and other minigames in the Chikn ecosystem. All you need to know is in these docs, but playing is the best way to get your head around everything.

</details>

**Remember, this is guide is only a suggestion.** Some players get by with only a Roostr, others with only a FarmLand, and others with no NFTs at all. You don’t need to own every NFT in the ecosystem, although it will help you stay ahead of the game. As you learn more about Chikn, you’ll discover new strategies that suit your playstyle and give you an edge over others.

# Tokens Overview

The Chikn ecosystem is comprised of several fungible ERC-20 tokens that serve as in-game currencies and resources. The central token—$EGG—also has a range of utilities outside of the core game, including as a token used during gamified NFT mints on the Eggnite launchpad.

Chikn gameplay is designed to encourage token use as much as possible. In almost every case, used tokens are burned, permanently removing them from circulation. These mechanics are designed to keep token inflation in check with players incentivized to burn tokens to progress in the game.

We aren't advocates for buy-back style burns or any type of 'ponzinomics' that don’t accurately reflect token usage. As such, our burn methods will always be built on interacting with the Chikn platform and the many products we offer.

Gameplay mechanics and tokenomics are intrinsically linked in Chikn, ensuring that gamers can benefit from playing while discouraging them from simply accumulating. As the saying goes: if you want to make an omelette, you gotta break a few $EGG.

With the exception of $AVAX, the primary token of the Avalanche blockchain, there are currently four tokens used in Chikn.

* <mark style="color:red;">$EGG</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">$FEED</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">$FERT</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">$WORM</mark>

As the game and ecosystem expand, additional tokens may be added. As with the current tokens, each will be meticulously designed to ensure they strengthen the ecosystem and are fun to interact with.

{% hint style="danger" %}
We assign no value to the $EGG token or any other token in the Chikn ecosytem. They hold no economic value, and its only intended purpose is for interacting within the Chikn ecosystem.
{% endhint %}

# $EGG

> *"In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes, and chikn lay $EGG."*
>
> – Henjamin Franklin

<div><figure><img src="/files/jDGLJ5LGjw7v74t57GRC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/gxEDKBQ3Yv1GIuVJHI2L" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/nIDNPFppeYq0gum6maVQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

$EGG is the central token in the Chikn ecosystem, with a range of utilities within the game. It was the first fungible token launched by Chikn and is produced by roosted (staked) chikn NFTs.

There is no hard cap on $EGG. <mark style="color:red;">**chikn will always lay $EGG.**</mark>

$EGG is needed to:

* Grow Roostr KG and produce $FERT
* Add liquidity for LP Farming
* Increase FarmLand Bigness
* Dig in your WormFarm
* Initiate a forage
* Use the Chikn Name Service (CNS) and Roost Name Service (RNS)
* Participate in gamified NFT launches through Eggnite

$EGG starts with roosting a chikn. Biggr chikn lay more $EGG than smol chikn. Assuming all chikn reach a hefty size of 45 KG each, there is a hypothetical maximum emission rate of around 120,000 $EGG per day.

When chikn lay $EGG, the tokens accumulate in the player’s roost. The player can choose to claim the $EGG at any time and transfer them to their wallet.

# Laying $EGG

To lay $EGG, all you need is a chikn NFT. These can be purchased from the [chikn.farm marketplace](https://chikn.farm/market/?tab=chikn) or on OpenSea.

With your chikn NFT in your wallet, head to [chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm) and navigate to [Chikn > Roost](https://chikn.farm/roost/?tab=chikn).

Select the chikn you would like to roost, or select ‘Roost All’.

Note that most chikn are already roosted. Because of Chikn’s pioneering non-custodial staking contracts, players don’t need to unstake their chikn to sell or transfer them. If you’re purchasing a chikn from the marketplace, there’s a good chance it’s already roosted, meaning you won’t need to do anything to start accumulating $EGG.

Your chikn will now begin laying $EGG at a predefined rate determined by its KG.

* All chikn have a base weight of 1 KG, where they lay 1 $EGG per day.
* Increasing the KG of your chikn increases the $EGG laid by 0.25 $EGG per KG per day.

To claim your $EGG, simply click ‘Claim’ and complete the transaction.

Unclaimed $EGG are not actually real $EGG tokens on the blockchain, but rather a number that demonstrates how much new $EGG should be minted to your wallet when you choose to claim. We highly recommend claiming your $EGG regularly in the case of any technical issues resulting in the loss of unclaimed $EGG, which cannot be recovered.

In this system, unclaimed $EGG are indexed to the chikn NFT itself, not the staking wallet. This means that any unclaimed $EGG will be transferred with the chikn when the NFT is transferred (for example, when sold on the marketplace). If you’ve listed your chikn for sale, make sure to regularly claim your $EGG to avoid it getting sold alongside your chook. If you’re purchasing a new chikn, check to see if it comes with a nice $EGG bonus.

For more information on the Roost, see the [Roosting](/gaming/roosting) section.

# $EGG Tokenomics

**Token name:** chikn egg (EGG)

**Contract:** 0x7761E2338B35bCEB6BdA6ce477EF012bde7aE611

**Initial supply:** 2 million (2,000,000) $EGG

**Max supply:** Uncapped

[EGG/AVAX on Trader Joe](https://traderjoexyz.com/trade?inputCurrency=AVAX\&outputCurrency=0x7761e2338b35bceb6bda6ce477ef012bde7ae611)
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/qD21GNKyXLNSln8qpH09" alt=""><figcaption><p>chikn #6969</p></figcaption></figure>

$EGG is a fair-launch token, meaning that there was no pre-sale. The initial supply distribution was as follows:

* 1 million (1,000,000) $EGG airdropped equally to all 10,000 chikn (100 $EGG each) with no prior advertising or announcement of the fact.
* 1 million $EGG reserved for liquidity, to keep the ecosystem functionally optimally and with minimal slippage.

An additional 52 million (52,000,000) $EGG was allocated to various smart contracts and wallets to support ecosystem functions. This $EGG is programmed to unlock weekly over the first two years of operations. The details of these allocations are as follows:

* **Team & Advisors:** 10.4 million $EGG\
  [0x4ea322d0b5b2056520be55f53f2ef7b36acba22d](https://snowtrace.io/address/0x4ea322d0b5b2056520be55f53f2ef7b36acba22d)
* **Ecosystem Development:** 10.4 million $EGG\
  [0x53a6fd2ba9a398892dda5dec589f2e2d9a653443](https://snowtrace.io/address/0x53a6fd2ba9a398892dda5dec589f2e2d9a653443)
* **Liquidity:** 10.4 million $EGG\
  [0xa09361c026775997bf88229e038b3812fe873e0a](https://snowtrace.io/address/0xa09361c026775997bf88229e038b3812fe873e0a)
* **Marketing:** 10.4 million $EGG\

* **Strategic Partnerships:** 10.4 million $EGG\
  [0x729b4051170c9cc1e48f46962446cd1f552b179d](https://snowtrace.io/address/0x729b4051170c9cc1e48f46962446cd1f552b179d)

$EGG supply is uncapped—**all chikn will lay $EGG forever**. Despite the token being uncapped, functions within the Chikn game and broader ecosystem are designed to counteract token inflation and, eventually, surpass emission rates to create a deflationary token.

At launch, 10,000 roosted chikn at a minimum size of 1 KG released tokens at a rate of 10,000 $EGG per day. As the KG of roosted chikn increases, this rate will approach a hypothetical maximum of around 120,000 $EGG per day.

It’s important to note that chikn KG cannot grow forever, and therefore there is a point at which the rate of $EGG production will stop increasing. $FEED tokens are required to increase the KG (and rate of $EGG emission), and $FEED tokens have a hard supply cap. Once $FEED runs out and all $FEED is fed to chikn, $EGG emissions will be fixed. See the section on $FEED for more information.

To estimate the total supply over the first 24 months, we used the following projections:

* **$EGG laid by chikn over 24 months:** \~63 million $EGG
* **Total supply in the first 24 months (factoring in ecosystem allocations):** \~116 million $EGG

<figure><img src="/files/vHdbceTdqAMPz5r0p5Us" alt=""><figcaption><p>$EGG emissions projected over approximately 2 years</p></figcaption></figure>

It’s important to note that these are only estimates. The actual figure will depend on the total KG of roosted chikn which is determined by players who use $FEED to increase the size of their chikn.

The circulating supply of $EGG at any given time will be impacted by:

* $EGG emission rates as determined by Roost KG.
* The ways that players can burn $EGG in the game and broader ecosystem.
* Amount of tokens permanently locked in liquidity (see the FarmLand NFT Mint Mechanics section for more details on liquidity locking).

<mark style="color:red;">The only way to mint new $EGG is to have a chikn NFT laying them for you. If you want to get involved, grab a chook and get laying.</mark>

# $EGG Burning

Token burning is a central feature of the Chikn ecosystem and is factored into every product that we launch. We believe that players will reduce circulating supply with fun mechanics and interesting tokenomics. This is baked into the gameplay of Chikn, avoiding the need for dubious practices like token buy-backs that do not accurately represent the utility of the token.

As the core ecosystem token, $EGG currently has the greatest number of burn outlets. While it is possible to play Chikn without $EGG, it wouldn’t be very fun—you need $EGG to unlock the most benefit from Chikn, and every time you spend $EGG in the game and in the ecosystem, it’s permanently removed from circulation.

<figure><img src="/files/u4umWYDp9J2wqWWO8QvS" alt=""><figcaption><p>No eggs are harmed in the burning of $EGG</p></figcaption></figure>

The following list includes some of the in-game uses for $EGG, although as the ecosystem expands this list will grow in due course.

* <mark style="color:red;">**Grow Roostr KG and produce $FERT**</mark>\
  Roostr need to eat at least 1 $EGG per day to produce $FERT. The more $EGG you feed them, the more $FERT they produce on a daily basis.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Add liquidity for LP Farming**</mark>\
  LP Farming is a key feature in the Chikn game and is the only way to harvest auxiliary tokens like $FEED and $WORM. While farms for FERT/AVAX and FEED/AVAX are currently available, EGG/AVAX LP Farms will always have higher and more diverse rewards.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Upgrade FarmLand Bigness**</mark>\
  Upgrading FarmLand Bigness requires players to burn $EGG in increasing amounts. Increasing Bigness unlocks new tiles and increases the size of the player's rewards silos (larger silos mean more rewards can be accumulated before they need to be emptied).
* <mark style="color:red;">**Dig in your WormFarm**</mark>\
  Players need to burn $EGG in order to dig in their WormFarm. Digging increases the capacity of your WormFarm and allows players to find new blueprints for Crafting.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Initiate a forage**</mark>\
  Each time a player wishes to initiate Foraging with a chikn, they must burn a fixed amount of $EGG.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Increase resource silo**</mark>\
  Foragable resources are held in a Silo with a capped size that can be increased by burning $EGG.&#x20;
* <mark style="color:red;">**Crafting**</mark>\
  $EGG is required as a component of crafting recipes.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Use the Chikn Name Service (CNS) and Roost Name Service (RNS)**</mark>\
  Players can add flare to their Roost and chooks with the CNS and RNS. These services allow you to give your chikn, Rooster, and Roost personalized names and bios. It’s cosmetic, but it’s awesome.

# $FEED

> *"If you can’t feed a hundred chikn, then feed just one."*
>
> – Mother Bokresa

<div><figure><img src="/files/zeajX7beIjWiOCA1dajk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/0BcffinzJ2t2V1qrmYjp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/X30vbdOlsbKnXqkSWc4K" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

$FEED was the second token introduced to the Chikn ecosystem and is the only way to increase the $EGG laying potential of your Roost. As we all know from first-hand experience, Biggr chikn lay more $EGG. It’s science, we didn’t make it up. Trust us.

The initial Tri-Token Architecture in the Chikn ecosystem saw players single-sided staking $EGG to farm $FEED through their Roost. $FEED introduces an exciting competitive element to Chikn. Because the supply dwindles naturally from feeding birds, it becomes harder to acquire for farmers racing up the leaderboard.&#x20;

Later, $FEED was farmed by staking various Chikn ecosystem LP tokens in an LP Farm. $FEED yields can be increased by using $FERT to fertilize a FarmLand, improving the player’s reward multiplier. Single-sided $EGG staking through the Roost for $FEED was slowly weakened, making LP staking the best way to accumulate this rare token.

{% hint style="warning" %} <mark style="color:red;">**Unlike $EGG, $FEED has a fixed supply that has been fully distributed.**</mark>**&#x20;$FEED rewards ran out on December 09, 2022.**
{% endhint %}

The only way to acquire $FEED is to purchase it from exchanges (or get given a gift from a very generous player). It is entirely possible for all $FEED to be eaten by hungry chikn, reducing the circulating supply to zero and fixing the total weight of the Roost (and therefore $EGG emissions) forever.

There are also 800 million $FEED tokens held in reserve for the Chikn DAO. If and how these tokens will be released will be a matter for the DAO to consider once it’s up and running.

# Getting $FEED

{% hint style="warning" %} <mark style="color:red;">**The $FEED supply was fully distributed into circulation on December 09, 2022.**</mark>
{% endhint %}

Initially, $FEED was earned through Single-Sided Staking (SSS) of $EGG tokens. SSS rewards have been progressively reduced in favor of LP Farm rewards and currently, no new $EGG can be staked in SSS for $FEED. Players are encouraged to unstake their remaining SSS $EGG and transition to the LP Farm to get their maximum reward potential.

SSS rewards generated $FEED at a fixed 2x rate for $EGG daily. That means that for every 1 $EGG in SSS, players generated 2 $FEED per day. This reward rate can be modified by the Chikn team depending on ecosystem needs.

LP Farms have a variable reward rate that depends on the fertility of the player’s FarmLand. A base 4x multiplier applies to all FarmLand, meaning that, at the lowest fertility, players generated 4 $FEED per $EGG every day.

Players can increase the number of tokens they earn from LP Farms by increasing their FarmLand’s fertility. See the sections on $FERT and the FarmLand NFT for more information.

The Chikn community has been preparing for the full distribution of $FEED rewards since the token’s launch. This was referred to Life After $FEED Farming (LAFF) and was anticipated to add an extra dynamic to the game’s meta as $FEED supplies dried up. It’s important to consider the end of $FEED’s supply in your chikn growing strategy.

Now that $FEED has been fully distributed, the only way to acquire more is to purchase it from exchanges. Note that the Chikn DAO controls 800 million $FEED—once the DAO is running, the community will decide what to do with these tokens.

Even after $FEED ran out, SSS and LP Farms will continue to distribute other tokens as rewards. See the section on $WORM for more information.

<figure><img src="/files/FA2rQ4SGfWUM2FRLKUqV" alt=""><figcaption><p>TraderJoe.xyz is a preferred $FEED supplier</p></figcaption></figure>

There was no presale or airdrop for $FEED. The token launched at the same time Roosting became available in December 2021. Players could farm $FEED by staking $EGG in Single-Sided Staking, or by swapping $EGG to feed at a fixed rate.

The total $FEED supply was calculated to meet the hypothetical goal of all 10,000 chikn reaching 45 KG, although this is not a fixed maximum weight for any chikn. As the game plays out, some chikn will exceed 45 KG while others won’t come close.

After launch, 800 million $FEED was allocated to the Chikn DAO and a small amount to exchanges for initial liquidity. The breakdown of all these allocations are as follows:

* **Reward Emissions:** 8 billion $FEED
* **Chikn DAO Treasury:** 800 million $FEED
* **Liquidity & Incentives:** 800 million $FEED
* **Team & Advisors:** 800 million $FEED
* **Ecosystem Development:** 800 million $FEED
* **Partnerships & External Farms:** 800 million $FEED

{% hint style="info" %}
Update: The Chikn team moved all $FEED allocations (with the exception of the DAO Treasury allocation which remains reserved) into circulation. A total of 11.2 billion $FEED were released primarily through staking rewards, with a relatively small amount left in liquidity. Your chikn are hungry—we want to make sure they get fed.
{% endhint %}

The total $FEED supply allocated to rewards ran out on December 09, 2022. There will be no additional $FEED minted.

# $FEED Burning

$FEED exists to keep hungry chikn sate, and feeding chikn $FEED is the outlet for token burning.

Giving your chikn $FEED increases its KG. The amount of $FEED required to increase the size of a chikn by 1 KG scales with the size of the chikn.

$$
Required\ $FEED\ to\ increase\ KG = 25 \* KG^2
$$

<figure><img src="/files/OR2M8NxK82PEz6uDKMUQ" alt=""><figcaption><p>$FEED required to increase Chikn KG</p></figcaption></figure>

The primary purpose of giving your chikn $FEED is to increase the KG of your chikn. But, you’ll need to wait for your chikn to digest after it increases its KG before you can give it more $FEED.

Digestion time increases linearly with level, although players can burn $EGG to skip digestion if they want to level their KG quicker.

$$
Digestion\ time\ in\ minutes = KG \* 60
$$

<figure><img src="/files/64vJRlnsFvYCS20aYV0t" alt=""><figcaption><p>Digestion time required to increase KG</p></figcaption></figure>

For example, a chikn moving from 1 to 2 KG would require 60 minutes to digest before being able to level from 2 to 3 KG. If you’re looking to get a nice weight of 69 KG, you’d need to wait 4,080 minutes, or about 2 days and 20 hours, before being able to make the gainz to 70 KG.

$FEED can also be used to skip the GrowingPainz (GP) experienced by Roostr. Just as chikn have a digestion time that restricts their leveling rate, Roostr have a GP timer that triggers whenever they level. To skip the GP cooldown, players can burn $FEED in amounts that increase with KG.

$$
Cost\ in\ $FEED\ to\ skip\ GP\ cooldown = 1000 \* Kg
$$

# $FERT

> *"To initiate courting, Roostr will dance in a circle around or near a hen (a 'circle dance') before releasing a nutrient-rich substance (a ‘$FERT squirt’) to display dominance."*
>
> – Cluckbridge University Press Biology Coursebook (Third Edition)

<div><figure><img src="/files/zYA04hY0qPaKCRzYFTYY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/7Feq6shJoEKQjxsqYLhr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/VQG76MnOfKcl56dujotl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

$FERT is dropped by roosted Roostr that have been fed $EGG, and can be used to fertilize FarmLand for both LP Farm and foraging rewards. We’re committed to this poultry meme to the end.

$FERT became available when Roostr NFTs were activated for Roosting. Like $EGG, there is no supply cap on $FERT. Roostr will always squirt $FERT.

In addition to FarmLand fertilization, $FERT is also required for Foraging. Players must spend a fixed amount of $FERT to initiate a Forage.

# Making $FERT

What goes in, must come out. To increase the KG of a Roostr, players must feed them $EGG. As a by-product of this feeding, Roostr digestive systems get to work and create the nutrient-rich $FERT loved by Chikn farmers everywhere. Unlike chikn which always lay $EGG, Roostr must be fed at least 1 $EGG every 24 hours to produce $FERT. This $EGG contributes to the Kg of Roostr.

<figure><img src="/files/JD4QpLMjiOZHgtaTPjth" alt=""><figcaption><p>Squirting $FERT is an important part of the gameplay loop</p></figcaption></figure>

For more information on feeding Roostr, check out the section on [Roosting](/gaming/roosting).

{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/8jDwIaNNhKvDYwustMEh" alt=""><figcaption><p>Roostr #2</p></figcaption></figure>

There was no presale for $FERT. All FarmLand NFTs received an airdrop of $FERT proportional to their Bigness, with a total of 3.5 million $FERT distributed. The supply is uncapped as all Roostr will continue dropping $FERT as long as they are fed $EGG. There is a strong incentive for players to burn $FERT to fertilize FarmLand and increase their reward multiplier, keeping token inflation in check.

At launch, the Chikn team projected that approximately 1 billion $FERT would be released in the first year. This calculation was made on the assumptions that:

* 70% of Roostr are fed every day
* 70% of Roostr are grown efficiently and effectively

These numbers were based on data collected on how players interacted with chikn NFTs.

Based on this assumption, 10% of the first year supply (100 million $FERT) was allocated by the team to liquidity and market making. This supply is vested for one year and released in equal amounts weekly.

$FERT emissions are predicted to reach 2 billion in approximately 540 days after launch. This modeling suggests $FERT emissions will reach 3.6 billion in the first two years after launch.

The circulating supply of $FERT will vary depending on how players use the token in their strategy.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/oBfLRC8kWKm5J1fxwQMe" alt=""><figcaption><p>Projected $FERT emissions over approximately 2 years</p></figcaption></figure>

# $FERT Burning

There are three ways to use $FERT in gameplay—by fertilizing FarmLand, sending a Roostr to forage, and by fertilizing Resources on FarmLand to increase the chance of being foraged.

The main burn mechanism comes from FarmLand fertilization. Fertilizing FarmLand causes its reward multiplier to increase in increments of 0.25x, up to a maximum of 16x. Note that all FarmLand have an initial reward multiplier of 4x.

The amount of $FERT required to increase the FarmLand multiplier is based on a continuous diminishing returns function, converted to a step-wise approximation.

$$
f(x,n)=\frac{(Fx+1)^{1-2}-1}{(1-n)}
$$

Where:

```
n = 0.75 (set to some constant)
x = $FERT burned
F = 0.0002 (initial fertility increase per $FERT burned)
Base = 4 (initial multiplier value)
```

Putting all those values in, we get the following function for the multiplier increase based on $FERT burned:

$$
Multiplier=Base+\frac{(0.0002\*Burned+1)^{0.25}-1}{0.25}
$$

This is then converted to a step-wise function based on every 0.25x increase in fertility multiplier. To move from a base multiplier of 4x to the next step at 4.25x, players need to burn 1,372 $FERT. The step from 15.75x to the maximum at 16x requires 1,275,000 $FERT to be burned.

<figure><img src="/files/59swD8JgkNGrlapKuKo9" alt=""><figcaption><p>$FERT burn required to achieve multiplier steps</p></figcaption></figure>

$FERT is also burned through Foraging. Just as sending chikn to forage requires players to burn a fixed amount of $EGG, sending Roostr to forage requires players to spend a fixed amount of $FERT.

Foraging also allows players to burn $FERT to increase the chance that a Resource will be found. The chance of a successful Forage on an individual Resource can be increased by between 0.0050% and 0.0100% per $FERT burned, up to a maximum boost of 10%. This boost lasts 28 days before requiring refertilization.

The percentage boost per $FERT varies depending on the Resource being fertilized. See the [Foraging](/gaming/foraging) section for more information.

# $WORM

> *"Tube within a tube; Eyes blind to day, blind to night; Composter in our soil."*
>
> – Haiku, author unknown

<figure><img src="/files/ru0fj0Co0T7xY1BvkiBi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

$WORM was the fourth token introduced to the Chikn ecosystem. At launch, the token was billed as a replacement for $FEED rewards that were approaching exhaustion. Like $FEED, players generate $WORM through their LP Farm.

The little wrigglers beneath the dirt are often overlooked, but any gardener will tell you just how important $WORM are. Living beneath your FarmLand, $WORM help turn over soil, bringing valuable resources and crafting blueprints to the surface.

$WORM is the primary token needed for Crafting. Crafting includes several ways to burn $WORM—see the section on [$WORM Burning](/tokens/worm/worm-burning) for more information.

# Finding $WORM

Just like $FEED, $WORM are earned as rewards in LP Farms. Staking LP tokens in the relevant pools on your FarmLand will earn you $WORM tokens, with the rate determined by the amount of LP staked and the FarmLand’s multiplier. Note that the multiplier for $WORM applies over a 120-day timeframe to ensure $WORM emissions are kept in check. This may be adjusted by the dev team over time.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/9E9Rt9o6DnJeT9q7aTlf" alt=""><figcaption><p>LP Farm with the $WORM silo displayed to the right</p></figcaption></figure>

FarmLand have a dedicated silo for $WORM that, once filled, stops accumulating additional tokens. Players can empty their silo at any stage or increase the Bigness of their FarmLand to also increase silo capacity. Note that once FarmLand reaches 120 Bigness, silo capacity becomes unlimited.

For more information, see the section on [Farming](/gaming/farming).

**Soft supply cap:** 24 billion (24,000,000,000) $WORM

[WORM/WAVAX on Trader Joe](https://traderjoexyz.com/trade?inputCurrency=0xb31f66aa3c1e785363f0875a1b74e27b85fd66c7\&outputCurrency=0x79BA10485ae46a9436D560D9664369176EC2eB2b)
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/5BNHhsNlgmsxapjsq2xe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

$WORM was launched in October 2022 as the second update in the Foraging rollout. There were no presale or team allocations, and all FarmLand holders received an airdrop proportional to the size of their FarmLand.

$$
$WORM\ received\ per\ FarmLand = FarmLand\ size ^{2.22}
$$

This resulted in an initial airdrop of 25 million $WORM to FarmLand holders.

The initial $WORM supply cap was set at 24 billion $WORM, however, this is not a hard cap. The Chikn team has the ability to increase the supply cap by 2 billion $WORM at each quarterly review as needed. This is to ensure that there is sufficient $WORM if the player and userbase increase as the ecosystem and partner network grow.

Changes to the $WORM supply cap will only occur if it is in the best interest of the project, and the community will be notified ahead of time. Decisions relating to $WORM supply will ultimately be placed in the hands of the Chikn DAO.

$WORM emissions are expected to reach 8–10 billion $WORM in the first five years. These projects take into account projected $EGG emissions and their conversion into LP, as well as FarmLand multipliers over the estimates.

Circulating supply will depend heavily on how $WORM is utilized in Foraging. As more features are added to Foraging, including Crafting, $WORM burn rates are expected to increase.

**It’s also important to note that Foraging occurs off-chain.** When players move $WORM from their wallet into their Worm Farm, the tokens are burned and added to the player's Wormcount in the game database. These tokens cannot be removed from the game and readded to the blockchain. This means that the circulating supply will technically diminish even if players still have high Wormcounts.

# $WORM Burning

It still feels a little weird to talk about ‘burning’ $WORM, but that doesn’t change the fact the $WORM token, like all other tokens in the Chikn ecosystem, is designed with several supply sinks in mind. This ensures that the circulating supply remains in check even as emissions increase.

$WORM plays a major role in Foraging—for more information, see the section on the [Foraging](/gaming/foraging).

<figure><img src="/files/2RbKtZ0YGVtEcFrqwXXf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When a player moves $WORM from their wallet to their [WormFarm](/nfts/farmland-nft/wormfarm), the tokens are burned and added to an off-chain balance. This move is permanent and cannot be reversed. Note that each WormFarm exists on a per FarmLand basis.

Moving $WORM to a WormFarm increases the player's Wormcount. Higher Wormcounts correlate to a decrease in Foraging time, allowing them to accumulate more resources over time.

By digging and adding $WORM to the WormFarm, players discover [Blueprints](/gaming/foraging/blueprints) that can be used to craft items. Blueprints are revealed as the player digs deeper in their WormFarm, but can only be unlocked by increasing Wormcount to the Blueprint's depth, providing another incentive for players to move their $WORM off-chain.

Nothing in life is free, and sadly $WORM is the price we must pay for Items. Whenever a player [crafts an Item](/gaming/foraging/crafting), they sacrifice some $WORM. This is taken from their off-chain Wormcount. Players that are spending $WORM to craft must continue to resupply their Wormcount if they want to keep their foraging speed bonus.

In nature, worms are known for the role they play in composting, and in Chikn, $WORM are no different. Players with unwanted Items can choose to [Decompose](/gaming/foraging/decomposing) them, returning them to their constituent Resources. Decomposing costs $WORM which is taken from the player’s Wormcount.

# NFTs Overview

**Chikn burst onto the scene in November 2021 with the blockchain’s first (and probably only) collection of upgradable coqs.** This collection, known lovingly as chikn, was the first of many to come, each adding additional value and complexity to the Chikn game and providing new opportunities to test the limits of poultry-themed double entendres.

Today, the Chikn ecosystem contains five different NFTs:

* <mark style="color:red;">chikn NFTs</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Roostr NFTs</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">FarmLand NFTs</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Blueprint NFTs</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Item NFTs</mark>

Upgradability is a core component of what makes Chikn different. Unlike most NFT collections that have static metadata that cannot change, Chikn NFTs are constantly evolving. This is the very experience that gamers are familiar with in traditional video games and one that most blockchain projects have failed to capture. As you level your NFTs in-game, the record of this is permanently etched into the NFT’s metadata. When you buy or sell a Chikn ecosystem NFT, it transfers with all of the upgrades applied to that point.

The revolutionary upgradable smart contracts that underpin Chikn NFTs are now available to other projects, brands, and creators via our launchpad, Eggnite. With Eggnite, project creators can leverage Chikn infrastructure to launch their collections with the support of the largest and most active community on Avalanche.

Chikn NFTs are designed with ecosystem utility at their core. Each new NFT adds additional value to the game while providing new ways for players to burn the tokens they earn in-game. While you don’t need any NFTs to begin exploring Chikn, players quickly realize the value that all of them bring.

Chikn is by no means done with new types of NFTs. As the game develops and as projects join Eggnite, additional NFT collections will be integrated into the game and broader ecosystem. All of these will prioritize function and utility, ensuring that the continuous value loop that Chikn farmers know and love is maintained and enhanced.

# chikn NFT

The Landmark NFT of the Chikn Ecosystem—And the Only NFT That Will Ever Lay $EGG

<div><figure><img src="/files/8SsoVCGt4mnu9SZwm9vh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/rvGvOIiWi9PPDIq2N3H6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/4wnn44Xi8yACTch7z84C" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

chikn are the first and most powerful NFT in the Chikn ecosystem. Not only are they desirable collectibles, but they all also lay $EGG—the primary token in Chikn. **All chikn lay $EGG forever, making them the hardest working birds on the blockchain.**

chikn put us on the map as pioneers of upgradable NFTs. As you increase the size of your chikn or make changes to their names and bios through Chikn Name Service (CNS), the NFT’s metadata is permanantly upgraded as well. This makes chikn and their underlying smart contracts the ultimate gaming NFT on the market.

Since launching in November 2021, chikn have remained the most significant NFT collection on Avalanche. Chikn regularly see more transactions than all other top-10 NFTs combined and, on average, account for more than 30% of all NFT transactions on Avalanche. Not cluckin’ bad.

Chikn owners are proud of their birds, and rightly so. Whether you’re an OG rooster or new to the Chiknverse, an incredible community have formed around these zany birds. Sure, chikn are the only NFTs that will ever lay $EGG, but they’re also NFTs that give you so much more.

# Mint Mechanics

{% hint style="success" %}
**Total supply:** 10,000 chikn

**Mint status:** Sold out
{% endhint %}

The chikn mint opened on November 12, 2021, and proceeded until it sold out on November 19. All chikn were minted through the mint portal with the exception of 900 chikn NFTs gifted to the GoodBridging (GB) community for free.

The mint price for chikn was fixed at 1 AVAX. There was no whitelist or restrictions—anyone was able to mint as many chikn as they wanted.

# Architecture

At launch, chikn were a fundamental part of our Tri-Token Architecture. chikn lay $EGG, stake $EGG for $FEED, feed $FEED to your chikn to make it grow and lay more $EGG. Compete to make your chikn the biggest the quickest, before $FEED dwindles. The classic game of chikn.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/wN9GlOPg5zkL3qv5JDGq" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

For more information on the $FEED required to level chikn, see the section on [$FEED Burning](/tokens/feed/feed-burning).

For more information on $EGG emissions, see the sections [$EGG Tokenomics](/tokens/egg/egg-tokenomics) and [Laying $EGG](/tokens/egg/laying-egg).

# Traits & Rarity

Nice coq, but how nice?

<div><figure><img src="/files/QPccCLCOZz2ZNjsE3jA7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/YpbIZ7QQiEnldU0ZNwIy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/bllfy7d8jCVQRA4qZ4Vy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<div><figure><img src="/files/9LvFcAcX9KTssiW3SIVz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/R16zp55UQCNOodE9bNhs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/kJkGjJL2TxEyNjiR7GVw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

As there will only ever be 10,000 chikn, it goes without saying that all chikn are rare. Still, no two chikn are alike, and different traits and combinations have different rates of occurrence.

**It’s important to note that rarity has no impact on $EGG laying.** All chikn lay $EGG at the same rate as determined by their individual Kg. A 30 KG unique will lay the same amount of $EGG as a 30 KG common.

That’s not to say your chikn traits aren’t important. In the early days of chikn, rarity was an end in and of itself. Rarer chikn are harder to come by and usually fetch a higher price on the market. Chikn gamers have also been known to search out chikn with particular traits that match their personal flare.

With the release of [Foraging](/gaming/foraging), traits began playing a role in the game’s meta. Certain traits increase the chance of your chikn successfully foraging particular Resources from your FarmLand. Gamers looking to maximize their holdings of certain Resources can initiate a forage with a chikn that provides a boost to that Resource. Common traits provide less of a boost than rare traits—for example, the common ‘Cornhusk’ background provides a 0.5% boost to Veg forages, while the elite ‘Farm’ background provides a 2% boost to the same Resource.

Traits will play an increasingly important role in the game meta as more updates roll out, particularly as active gameplay elements are brought online.

# CNS & RNS

You don’t name your children with numbers, so why do the same with your chikn?

In early February 2022, the Chikn Name Service (CNS) and Roost Name Service (RNS) rolled out. CNS and RNS allow players to burn $EGG to change the name of their chikn, Roostr, FarmLand, and Roost wallet and to assign a quote and bio to our avian friends. CNS and RNS give players the freedom to express their desires—and their coq’s desires—in a handy block of text.

{% hint style="info" %}
Information in this section applies to chikn, Roostr, and FarmLand. Read on for all the beautiful details ✨
{% endhint %}

CNS and RNS exist because you create the world your chikn lives in. Got an epic backstory the world needs to hear about? Cluck away. Want to stand out in the marketplace or on the leaderboard? The name services are there for you.

<figure><img src="/files/vRZu7hl38hID6Y9NVpFg" alt=""><figcaption><p>The leaderboard is home to some colorful coqs</p></figcaption></figure>

The CNS can be accessed by selecting an individual chikn—head to [Wallet > Chikn ](https://chikn.farm/wallet/?tab=chikn)to get a list of all chikn you currently own.

<figure><img src="/files/UvqvtqS3o1QAx9S5y4E7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Select the chikn you want to name and click the ‘Edit chikn name’ button in the toolbar under your chikn’s picture.

Changing a chikn name through CNS costs 30 $EGG, all of which is instantly burned.

Changing your chikn’s bio is also done through the chikn’s profile page. The bio sits above the attribute list—click ‘Bio’ to enter editing mode. Enter your desired quote and bio copy and pay 12 $EGG to confirm the update. Again, this $EGG is instantly burned.

CNS takes advantage of the powerful upgradable smart contracts powering the entire chikn NFT collection. Name and bio changes are written as metadata, meaning they’ll transfer with the NFT if it moves wallets or is sold on the marketplace. Nothing has to be forever either—you can change your chikn name and bio as often as you want.

You have 140 characters in descriptors and 70 characters for flavor text to completely define who your coq is and what their battle cry will be, beyond their incredible attributes. Bok bok in bio, indeed.

<mark style="color:red;">**Name and bio changes are also available for Roostr, as is the ability to rename FarmLand. Select the Roostr or FarmLand you want to edit and commit changes in the same way you would for chikn.**</mark>

To change the name of your Roost, head to your [Wallet](https://chikn.farm/wallet/). At the top of the screen, you’ll see your wallet name with a pencil icon next to it (the default name is a flavorless ‘Wallet’). Changing the name of your Roost costs 70 $EGG, all of which is thrown directly into the token incinerator and burned.

# Roostr NFT

<div><figure><img src="/files/NhyhNHuv9Dc71lX2jYlm" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/cTlKjfPsz4mUmXrcgDGK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/XX5IWQyU4JtAQ6L2fOAM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Roostr was the third NFT collection introduced to the Chikn ecosystem, bringing new ways to burn $EGG and introducing $FERT and its associated role in LP Farming.

Roostr was a significant release in the history of Chikn and the Avalanche blockchain. The mint, which proceeded over two days, introduced a gamified system that required players to burn $EGG in a race to mint rarer NFTs. The more $EGG burned during the game window, the rarer the Roostr would be once minted. This system set the groundwork for the gamified mints now available on Eggnite. See the section on Mint Mechanics for more details.

In addition to pioneering gamified minting, Roostr set new activity records on Avalanche. The highly anticipated mint saw the most activity the blockchain has ever seen as players battled it out for their prized coqs. The entire public release sold out in just 15 minutes.

# Mint Mechanics

{% hint style="success" %}
**Total supply:** 12,000 Roostr

**Mint status:** Sold out
{% endhint %}

The Roostr mint was an important milestone for Chikn. Not only did it cause <mark style="color:red;">the most activity Avalanche has ever seen</mark>, but it revolutionized the way projects and artists launch NFT collections. Thanks to Roostr, Chikn cemented its place as the most important gaming NFT project on Avalanche and ensured that $EGG would play a role not just in our game, but in the broader NFT ecosystem moving forward.

The Roostr mint proceeded over two days on April 14 and 15, 2022. The first round on April 14 introduced gamified mints—a concept that will see wide application throughout Eggnite.

All chikn NFT holders were whitelisted for the mint, with some limited spots available for the public to participate. A total of 4,000 Roostr were allocated for day one.

The first 30 minutes of Round 1 allowed whitelisted chikn NFT holders to register for a Roostr. The following 30 minutes allowed the public to register for the remaining allocated Roostr. Round 1 had a limit of one NFT per wallet and players were required to pay 100 $EGG in order to secure their Roostr NFT.

Once all Roostr were allocated, the gamified mint began. Paying the 100 $EGG registration fee guaranteed the registered wallet a mint, however, the rarity of those NFTs would be determined by a race to burn the most additional $EGG.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/gnOEwDJyjeNU4jbnmse7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Instructions players received ahead of the rarity race</p></figcaption></figure>

Players who burned $EGG through the mint had their totals added to a leaderboard. At the end of an hour, those who had placed higher on the leaderboard ultimately revealed a rarer Roostr.

<figure><img src="/files/OMBjG7Rkx0sPPUjKAEFT" alt=""><figcaption><p>The $EGG Burn Leaderboard and the race to Rank 1</p></figcaption></figure>

The Roostr mint was a resounding success and paved the way for future mints to utilize similar mechanics. A total of 1.215 million $EGG was burned during the mint.

Round 2 took place 24 hours after the start of Round 1. Round 2 was a regular public mint priced in $AVAX with a limit of 2 NFTs per transaction, with players receiving a random Roostr NFT during the reveal. The price to mint was fixed at 1.75 $AVAX (plus gas) per Roostr and sold out in just 15 minutes.

# Architecture

Everyone knows that chikn lay $EGG, and Roostr squirt $FERT. The need to rhyme is stronger than we are.

Roostr produce the all-important $FERT—a token that can be used to improve FarmLand reward yields among other things. For more information on what $FERT can be used for, see the section on[ $FERT](/tokens/fert).

To produce $FERT, Roostr need to eat $EGG. These protein-rich ovals pass through the Roostr’s digestive system, helping them grow bigger and coming out the other end as $FERT.

<figure><img src="/files/L5b77P3SVJWlgPNUChZa" alt=""><figcaption><p>The $FERT Cycle - animation by <a href="https://twitter.com/thelinhhoang">linsanity</a></p></figcaption></figure>

Roostr bring added complexity to the Chikn game and give players the opportunity to optimize their Farming strategies. With the rollout of Foraging introducing new ways to spend $FERT, Roostr themselves have become even more important in the broader meta.

# Traits & Rarity

<div><figure><img src="/files/0c39b83inM87KZYsNMvW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/FJR1SduF65n4g8QNqU8g" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/mNawBoG72b6d6yMHsD1y" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

<div><figure><img src="/files/cVAszKGOv8lnopfw4YPA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/3YTWQcwMuXjgAb2hNj9I" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/LjbZVnVMf06TMqpxwZ8c" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Every coq is different, and no two Roostr are exactly alike. Of the collection of 12,000, 11,988 were randomly generated with varying rarities while 12 unique Roostr were commissioned from several talented artists.

{% embed url="<https://medium.com/@chikn_farm/roostr-the-uniques-5c0875be3e1e>" %}

All Roostr and their traits can be found on the native [Chikn Marketplace](https://chikn.farm/market/?tab=roostr).

Just as chikn traits have no impact on $EGG production, Roostr traits have no impact on $FERT drops. Leveling your Roostr by feeding it $EGG and giving it its minimum daily meal is the only way to get more $FERT, regardless of whether your NFT is common or unique.

However, traits play an important role in the other games within Chikn. Upcoming game releases, including ChiknQuest and CoqFight, will see traits play an increasingly important role. Traits already influence the outcomes in Foraging—certain Roostr traits provide boosts to corresponding resources, increasing the chance they’ll be discovered during a Forage. See the sections on [Foraging](/gaming/foraging) and [chikn Traits & Rarity](/nfts/chikn-nft/traits-and-rarity) for more details.

# FarmLand NFT

<div><figure><img src="/files/lb1Wz2lznotlUWON1cZs" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/H3ihboCh65EE8yo0XN6T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/S7WLlyxkEHXRNdD2m6jl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Chronologically, FarmLand was the second NFT in the Chikn ecosystem. FarmLand dropped in February 2022, giving players a home base for their operations and opening the door to gamified LP Farm incentives.

Today, FarmLand plays a critical role in Foraging. Players need a FarmLand (and the WormFarm beneath it) in order to forage and craft items.

Chikn has a reputation for doing things differently with mints, and FarmLand was no different. Instead of spending ecosystem tokens like $AVAX or $EGG, players were required to burn Trader Joe LP tokens to secure an NFT. <mark style="color:red;">This meant all funds raised from the mint were permanently and irrecoverably deposited as LP for $EGG.</mark> For more information, see the [Mint Mechanics](/nfts/farmland-nft/mint-mechanics) section.

FarmLand helped further demonstrate the power of Chikn’s upgradable NFT infrastructure. Players can burn $EGG to increase the Bigness of their FarmLand, periodically revealing new tiles with random rarities. This game can be thought of as a mini-mint within the NFT, as players are never sure what tiles they’ll unlock when their FarmLand grows.

# Mint Mechanics

{% hint style="success" %}
**Total supply:** 5,000 FarmLand

**Mint status:** Sold out
{% endhint %}

The FarmLand mint was significant for two reasons. First, it introduced gamified LP farming to the Chikn ecosystem. These farms play an important role today and allow players to earn a range of tokens through liquidity provision.

Second, it secured nearly $1 million of $EGG liquidity in the EGG/AVAX pair. This was achieved through a unique pricing strategy for the NFT, requiring players to burn LP tokens to secure a mint.

<figure><img src="/files/1Wu0EbRisX6G9HbI6iap" alt=""><figcaption><p>The FarmLand mint interface</p></figcaption></figure>

FarmLand minted February 20, 2022. chikn NFT holders were airdropped 1 FarmLand NFT per wallet, with a total of 2,174 distributed this way prior to public mint. This left 2,826 FarmLand NFTs for the public sale, with a limit of one FarmLand per wallet. Wallets that had been airdropped FarmLand because of their chikn were able to mint an additional FarmLand during the public round.

To secure an NFT, players were required to burn 16 $JLP tokens from the EGG/AVAX pair on Trader Joe. This was around 120 $EGG and equivalent $AVAX at the time. These LP tokens were sent to the furnace, locking that liquidity in the pool forever.

# Traits & Rarity

<div><figure><img src="/files/pZx6h7IXhimN6hudDhyg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/DGO7vE6BH08uDHio7s1l" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/NDw5oDin0MZ1x2rmBvdr" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Unlike other NFTs that reveal all traits once revealed, FarmLand instead keeps the curtain drawn on the NFTs rarity. As FarmLand increase in Bigness, new tiles are revealed at regular intervals. There are 40 types of tiles (including the central Barn tile), with some including multiple design variants.

New tiles are revealed every 5 Bigness, with a couple of exceptions. The player automatically reveals the central Barn tile at 1 Bigness and the second tile at 5 Bigness. The final two tiles are revealed at 110 and 120 Bigness respectively.

It’s only possible to increase Bigness three times per day. Tiles are revealed until the FarmLand becomes a 5x5 grid (24 random tiles + the Barn) at which point no further tiles are revealed.

Revealing all tiles requires a FarmLand of 120 Bigness. Players can continue to grow their FarmLand beyond 120 Bigness and may choose to do so for clout, larger WormFarms, and for other reasons that haven’t been announced yet.

<figure><img src="/files/zB4Aq6nFla6YPdfNF8d8" alt=""><figcaption><p>A coveted 5x5 FarmLand, achieved by reaching 120 Bigness</p></figcaption></figure>

Upgrading Bigness permanently changes the NFTs metadata, just as new tiles are permanently added to the NFT. This is possible thanks to the upgradable NFT infrastructure that underpins the Chikn ecosystem.

Unlike the chikn and Roostr marketplaces which categorize floor prices by rarity, FarmLand floor prices are instead ranked by Bigness. This is to keep the underlying rarity of unrevealed tiles a secret—it wouldn’t be much fun if you knew what was coming.

To get an idea of the overall rareness of a FarmLand NFT, players can check its Score. This is calculated by summing rarity points associated with revealed tiles. Players can also search for specific tiles in the [Marketplace](https://chikn.farm/market/?tab=farmland) and inspect all possible tiles by navigating to [FarmLand > Tiles/Traits](https://chikn.farm/farmTraits).

<figure><img src="/files/SRIqGFf2FpwHs7FirlU7" alt=""><figcaption><p>Search FarmLand by Bigness and refine your search by selecting desired traits. Note the 'Score' which indicates the overall rareness of revealed tiles.</p></figcaption></figure>

The unique rarity mechanic of FarmLand makes for interesting gameplay metas, and marketplace floor prices regularly demonstrate that size isn’t everything when it comes to FarmLand. A Humble FarmLand with no exceptional tiles could potentially reveal a heavy concentration of some of the rarest tiles in the game. A vast FarmLand with an exceptionally high rarity score could go on to reveal only common tiles as it increases in size.

Different FarmLand tiles allow players to find different [Resources](/gaming/foraging/resources) in Foraging. If a player requires a certain Resource for Crafting, they would need a FarmLand with certain tiles if they wish to forage for it. Blank tiles on a FarmLand can alternatively be equipped with items that enable the corresponding resource to be foraged.

Rarity also impacts the way players forage. Rarer tiles increase the chance that a particular resource will be successfully found by a foraging chikn or Roostr. Players can view the Resources associated with tiles and the corresponding boost to their forage chance on the [FarmLand Traits](https://chikn.farm/farmTraits) page.

<figure><img src="/files/EYgUHrP9wh72w3UZApX2" alt=""><figcaption><p>Explore tile rarity and check what resources they provide.</p></figcaption></figure>

Traits and rarities make no difference to LP Farm multipliers or reward Silos. See the section on [LP Farming](/gaming/farming) for more information.

# LP Farm

Chikn is a game about farms, and LP Farming is a cornerstone of the ecosystem. On the surface, LP Farming is relatively simple.

* Stake various LP tokens in one of the corresponding LP Farms.
* Earn rewards that are added to your Silo.
* Claim the rewards to empty the Silo and move them to your wallet.
* Use those rewards in game.&#x20;

LP Farming is closely linked with FarmLand NFTs, although you don’t need a FarmLand to be an LP Farmer. It is still possible to stake LP tokens in Chikn farms without a FarmLand NFT, however you will be limited to both the minimum reward multiplier and the minimum silo sizes.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Silos**</mark>

Silos are a holding room for accumulated rewards. Over time, your Silos will fill with the tokens you earn from Farming. Once full, you’ll stop earning rewards until you empty your Silo—make sure you’re checking it regularly!

<figure><img src="/files/e5TAuXCfaCUoKAQZ0wBy" alt=""><figcaption><p>LP Farm Silos should be emptied before they fill completely</p></figcaption></figure>

Increasing Bigness increases your Silo capacity. The rate of growth for the silo varies between resources.

$$
$WORM\ silo\ capacity = Max\ Wormcount \* 0.5
$$

<figure><img src="/files/PMsICk5R7nrcVczvGQVs" alt=""><figcaption><p>The Silo cap for $WORM plotted against FarmLand bigness. Note that the actual cap is directly derrived from a formula involving Wormcount, which itself is calculated from FarmLand bigness.</p></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="color:red;">**Note that max Wormcount is linked to the number of tiles on a FarmLand, but is not calculated by a simple formula.**</mark> See the section on [WormFarm](/nfts/farmland-nft/wormfarm) for more information.

Claiming rewards from your LP Farms empties all silos associated with that particular Farm. To claim rewards, navigate to your LP Farm, find the pool (or pools) you’re staked in, and click ‘Harvest’.

Tokens in silos are not actual, minted tokens, and are instead represented as numbers in an off-chain database. When players harvest tokens from their silos, the tokens they are owed are minted accordingly into their wallets. Because this data is initially stored off-chain, players are encouraged to empty their silos regularly in case of any errors as lost silo counts are not retrievable.

This mechanic is also important to keep in mind when token reward supplies approach depletion (i.e $FEED). The number of tokens represented in the silo can exceed the number of tokens available to claim, in which case any additional tokens over the available supply will be lost upon claiming.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Token Pairs**</mark>

There are several token pairs available in the LP Farm, all of which are related to Chikn ecosystem tokens. These are designed to encourage players to add liquidity in a wide variety of tokens, ensuring there is sufficient depth for players to trade on.

Players can currently stake:

* <mark style="color:red;">EGG/AVAX JLP</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">FERT/AVAX JLP</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">FEED/AVAX JLP</mark>

This list may grow in the future to include more tokens. For a list of the contracts, see [Farming Contracts](/gaming/farming/farming-contracts).

Players can remove their LP at any time by navigating to their LP Farm, finding the pair they’re staked in, and selecting the ‘Withdraw’ tab. To save on gas, your silo will automatically empty in the same transaction whenever you withdraw LP tokens from a farm. There is no fee or penalty to withdraw LP tokens from farms.

LP Farm contracts are often upgraded to introduce new features, when this occurs users are required to migrate their LP tokens to the new pair. For any users who have LP Tokens sitting in old contracts, head to <https://chikn.farm/lpwithdraw> to remove them.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Rewards**</mark>

LP Farm rewards were initially distributed in $FEED. Players were able to stake their desired JLP in order to accumulate $FEED at a variable rate as determined by their multiplier.

The release of $WORM brought LP Farming into a new era. As $FEED supplies dwindled, $WORM emerged as its spiritual successor and is currently the primary reward from staking.

The release of $WORM came with an upgraded LP Farm contract that allows the Chikn team to alter rewards without needing to deploy a fresh pool. This means that players who are staked in the EGG/AVAX (Dual Rewards) pool earned both $FEED and $WORM (until $FEED ran out), as well as any additional ecosystem and partner tokens that are offered as rewards in the future.

Reward rates vary depending on the player’s FarmLand multiplier. For players with no FarmLand, the base multiplier of 4x applies.

The actual reward rate can be calculated by the following formula:

$$
Estimated\ rewards = $EGG\ count\ in\ staked\ LP \* Reward\ Multiplier
$$

<mark style="color:red;">**Note that the value of $EGG in staked LP can change as the price of $EGG and $AVAX fluctuate.**</mark>

For example, assume that $EGG is priced at $1 and $AVAX is priced at $10. In this case, 1 JLP token is redeemable for 10 $EGG and 1 $AVAX.

If a player stakes 100 JLP, the $EGG value of those tokens would be 1,000 $EGG.

At the base multiplier of 4x, the player would expect to earn 4,000 reward tokens daily. This was true with $FEED as it had rewards calculated on a daily basis.

<mark style="color:red;">**$WORM rewards are instead calculated over a 120 day period.**</mark> The same player would expect to earn 4,000 $WORM over 120 days, or approximately 33.33 $WORM per day.

Tokens that are added in the future may have their rewards calculated over varying time spans. These decisions are made to ensure that token emissions can be balanced against the rate at which players burn tokens in-game. These reward periods may also change while the reward is live if needed.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Fertility Multipliers**</mark>

Players can permanently increase their reward multiplier by burning $FERT on their desired FarmLand. See the section on [$FERT Burning](/tokens/fert/fert-burning) for more information about the $FERT required to increase reward multipliers.

Increasing the fertility of FarmLand has a direct impact on the daily reward calculation. For this example, assume the same token conditions outlined above ($EGG at $1, $AVAX at $10).

A player who stakes 100 JLP but has maximized their fertility at 16x would receive 16,000 $FEED daily, and 16,000 $WORM over 120 days (approximately 133.33 $WORM per day).

# WormFarm

Beneath all FarmLand lays a subterranean empire home to $WORM. This is your WormFarm—an essential component of the Chikn gaming ecosystem.

<figure><img src="/files/gAYFRfh7oBSlnOb9DMu7" alt=""><figcaption><p>WormFarms sit beneath FarmLand, home to worms and untold treasures</p></figcaption></figure>

WormFarm was released with the Foraging update—see the sections on [$WORM](/tokens/worm),[ Item NFTs](/nfts/item-and-blueprint-nfts) and [Foraging](/gaming/foraging) for more on this release.

Each FarmLand has its own WormFarm, the size of which is tied to the number of tiles on the FarmLand. As the FarmLand grow in size, players are able to dig to greater depths to increase the capacity of their WormFarm and uncover riches and Crafting Blueprints.

## <mark style="color:red;">**WormFarm Size & Digging**</mark>

The maximum size of the WormFarm increases in step with the rate that new tiles are revealed. Once players hit 120 Bigness and max out their tiles, they can continue digging with a new Worm Farm block continuing to unlock at a slightly faster rate. Players who reach 195 Bigness will maximize the potential size of their WormFarm at 50 blocks.

**Unlocking a block in a WormFarm does not mean that the player can utilize it right away.** The potential size of a WormFarm is instead useful for calculating the maximum depth and maximum Wormcount that can be associated with a WormFarm.

For example, a player with a FarmLand at 40 Bigness will have unlocked 10 tiles. This means that they can potentially dig until the tenth block in their Worm Farm. Digging requires players to burn $EGG from their off-chain holdings.

$$
$EGG\ to\ dig = 3 \* Bigness\ required\ for\ FarmLand\ tile
$$

To dig to their maximum depth, the player would need to burn 120 $EGG. As players must dig blocks sequentially, the accumulated cost to reach a WormFarm depth of 10 would be 549 $EGG.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Blueprints & Rewards**</mark>

As players dig in their WormFarm, Crafting Blueprints and some exciting surprises are unearthed. These are unlocked at different depths, with rewards found deeper generally being rare than those found at more shallow levels.

<figure><img src="/files/bNQTRDQVwMW71AhmlnYb" alt=""><figcaption><p>Fill your WormFarm to the treasure's depth to claim it</p></figcaption></figure>

Digging only reveals the Blueprint or reward—to claim them, players must fill their WormFarm with $WORM and reach the buried treasures.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Wormcount**</mark>

Wormcount measures the amount of $WORM that has been moved off-chain into the player’s WormFarm. When $WORM is moved off-chain, the tokens are permanently burned and cannot be retrieved. For more information, see [$WORM Burning](/tokens/worm/worm-burning).

A player's maximum Wormcount is determined by the number of WormFarm blocks they have dug.

<figure><img src="/files/NBD84oFa1nQkauQ1vXIz" alt=""><figcaption><p>Potential Wormcount capacity against FarmLand size. Note that capacity does not actually increase until the player digs in their WormFarm</p></figcaption></figure>

Until players dig in their WormFarm, their actual $WORM capacity will not increase.

Increasing Wormcount is an important part of the Chikn game. By filling their WormFarm and increasing their Wormcount, players decrease the amount of time required to complete a Forage. Players also need to fill their WormFarm to retrieve Blueprints and other buried treasures beneath the ground.

See the section on Foraging for more information on its specific mechanics.

## <mark style="color:red;">**WormFarm Example**</mark>

Say Kernal Sanders has a FarmLand NFT with 15 Bigness. On the surface, he would have unlocked 5 tiles, including the starting Barn tile.

Sanders wants to get his WormFarm going, so he heads underground. With 5 tiles unlocked on his FarmLand, he can dig a maximum of 5 squares in his WormFarm. He begins digging, paying 3 $EGG to dig the first block, and 6 $EGG to dig the second. He continues until the fifth block, paying 45 $EGG to dig it, with a cumulative cost of 99 $EGG.

With the fifth block unlocked, Sanders discovers a reward. To reach it, he needs fill his WormFarm to its max capacity, at this point 20,000 $WORM. He deploys the $WORM from his wallet to his WormFarm, claims his reward, and reduces his foraging time by 2.5 hours. He also has 20,000 $WORM that he can use when he decides to start crafting.

# Item & Blueprint NFTs

<div><figure><img src="/files/hILNT5Ihj49sZXm7kpy6" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/IaQBeDnHo6BPkcuasWLi" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/5qsYNnVl3uHXxc5IFnJu" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Items and Blueprints were released with the Foraging rollout in Q4 2022. They introduced ways to boost the preexisting traits of chikn, Roostr, and FarmLand NFTs and play an important role in the various games within the Chikn ecosystem, including Foraging and the upcoming ChiknQuest and CoqFight releases.

Item NFTs are available for Equipable Items. For more information on the difference between Equipable and Consumable Items, see the [Items](/gaming/foraging/items) section under Foraging.

Players can craft all types of Consumable Items after digging and filling 5 levels in their WormFarm, as long as they have the requisite resources for that Item.

To craft an Equipable Item, players need the corresponding Blueprint and its requisite resources. Blueprints are individual NFTs that are discovered after digging and filling to varying levels of a Worm Farm. Blueprints are tradable and can be found on the [Chikn Marketplace](https://chikn.farm/market/?tab=blueprint).

When players craft an Item, it is initially held in their off-chain inventory. If players wish to trade Equipable Items, they can choose to mint it as an on-chain NFT held in their wallet.

To mint an Item NFT, players must pay a fee in $WORM and $EGG and are limited by a 5 hour cooldown. This cooldown can be skipped by paying an additional fee in $WORM.

Once players hold Item NFTs, they’re free to trade or transfer them as they wish. Players looking to buy and sell Item NFTs can head to the [Chikn Marketplace](https://chikn.farm/market/?tab=item) to explore all available inventory—be sure to check the Item’s wear before purchasing.

If a player decides to use an Item in-game, they must first transfer it to their off-chain inventory. Moving items offchain is free (plus gas) and has no cooldown—you can do it as often as you want, as long as you’ve got enough for gas.

When a player moves an Item NFT off-chain, the NFT is burned and an equivalent item is placed in their inventory. Note that the supply caps that apply to some items count both on- and off-chain instances of the item.

# Chikn Marketplace

The Chikn Marketplace is a one-stop-shop for all things poultry and farming. It’s the ultimate place to trade and hustle your beloved Chikn NFTs with advanced features to handle the upgradable metadata that put our NFTs on the map.

All Chikn ecosystem NFTs are available in the Marketplace, including chikn, Roostr, FarmLand, Blueprint and Item NFTs.

Players can access the marketplace [by navigating to the Market on chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm/market/). Select the tab relating to the NFTs you would like to buy and begin exploring the coqs available.

<figure><img src="/files/LYe2rDKdKGt7dcPQ0L4F" alt=""><figcaption><p>Select the NFT tab and sort using a range of filters.</p></figcaption></figure>

For chikn and Roostr NFTs, players can search by rarity and traits, and sort searches by:

* <mark style="color:red;">Price</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Last sold price</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Rarity rank</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Mint number</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">KG</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Recently sold</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Recently listed</mark>

Players can also toggle a display that shows the resources that the individual birds receive boosts for when Foraging.

For FarmLand, players can search by traits and Bigness and sort searches by:

* <mark style="color:red;">Price</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Mint number</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Bigness</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Fertility multiplier</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Recently sold</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Recently listed</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Rarity score</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">Average tile score</mark>

For all NFTs, players can toggle whether to display all NFTs or only those for sale. Floor prices for the various rarities and Bigness are displayed at the top of the Marketplace page.

The Chikn Marketplace also natively displays CNS and RNS details. NFT names are displayed on the main Marketplace page, while clicking on NFT displays its full stats and any bio added.

To list an NFT for sale, navigate to your player [Wallet](https://chikn.farm/wallet/) and select the NFT you would like to list. Click ‘Sell’ and enter your asking price. Navigate to the same section to modify or cancel any existing listings.

{% hint style="info" %}
The Chikn ecosystem recieves a 6% royalty from every Marketplace transaction. This is used to support ongoing maintenance and development.
{% endhint %}

Players looking to quickly and easily transfer NFTs between wallets (rather than offer them on the marketplace) can select ‘Transfer’ from their NFT’s main page.

{% hint style="danger" %}
OTC trades using the transfer function carry added risk. If you're buying or selling NFTs off-market using this feature, make sure you understand what you're getting into.
{% endhint %}

Chikn NFTs are also available on OpenSea. <mark style="color:red;">**We love their work, but if you’d like to support the ecosystem, we encourage players to trade through the Chikn Marketplace.**</mark>

# Non-Custodial Staking Mechanics

Chikn ecosystem NFTs leverage our powerful non-custodial staking contracts in-game. When a player roosts a chikn or Roostr or activates a FarmLand, the NFT remains in their wallet. These NFTs are still usable in-game and can be upgraded, even though they remain custodied by the player.

Non-custodial staking also means that players can list their NFTs for sale while they’re still using them in-game. Players can continue using these NFTs up until the moment they’re sold, at which point they’re transferred to their new loving owner.

* Roosted chikn transfer with all unclaimed $EGG from the Roost. This means that the purchasing player will have access to any unclaimed $EGG the chikn laid.
* Roosted Roostr transfer with all unclaimed $FERT from the Roost. This means the purchasing player will have access to any unclaimed $FERT.
* Activated FarmLand do not transfer with unclaimed LP Farm rewards. Any unclaimed LP Farm rewards are instead lost upon transfer.
* WormFarms are sold with their associated FarmLand. This means that the WormFarm’s tunnel depth and Wormcount are transferred with the sale.
* When an NFT linked to an active forage is sold, the forage is canceled and any potential rewards are forfeited. Note that individual chikn and Roostr forage separately, so the sale of one NFT in an active forage will not impact the other foraging birds.
* Items attached to a transferring NFT are unequipped and returned to the player's off-chain inventory.

Clicking on most NFTs reveals the additional metadata associated with their Roost or WormFarm, and the community has developed some third-party tools that allow you to check unclaimed $EGG and $FERT. See the [Toolboks](/misc/toolboks) for a full list of these tools.

# Gaming Overview

Most anthropologists are in agreement that the emergence of digital civilization coincided with the development of gamified farming. While there is still debate about where gamified farming first began, some well-known historical eras include Runescape’s farming update (2005) and Facebook’s FarmVille (2009). However, it wasn’t until Chikn (2021) that gamified farming entered a proverbial agricultural revolution.

The Chikn gaming ecosystem is comprised of several idle and active games, each providing important functions to the ecosystem. While each Chikn game can be played seperately, their full utility is only unlocked when considered as a whole.

Chikn games are designed to provide utility for ecosystem NFTs and incentives for players to burn tokens. They are the methods by which players extract value from the ecosystem, and are a lot of fun to play.

There are currently three games within the ecosystem, all of which focus on idle gameplay.

* <mark style="color:red;">**Roosting**</mark>\
  Roost your chikn or Roostr to produce resources, and grow your birds in size to get more from them.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Farming**</mark>\
  Stake ecosystem or LP tokens to earn additional rewards to level your birds and expand your farm.
* <mark style="color:red;">**Foraging**</mark>\
  Put your birds to work and collect Resources, craft Items, and expand your WormFarm.

While development has so far focused on closing the idle gameplay loop, work has already commenced on active gameplay titles like **ChiknQuest** and **CoqFight**. For more information on these and other upcoming releases, see the [Ecosystem Plans](broken://pages/jkYlgiWJS8AwUjfBHZNH) section.

# Roosting

<figure><img src="/files/6LSPfOctykPUsEb1a4Ub" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Roosting was the first component of the Chikn gaming ecosystem and is a fundamental component of the meta.

There are currently two NFTs that can be added to a player’s roost:

* chikn NFTs
* Roostr NFTs

Each produces different tokens at variable rates that depend on the individual NFTs upgradable metadata, specifically its KG, or ‘Killergainz’.

<mark style="color:red;">**Roosted chikn lay $EGG. It’s science.**</mark>

<mark style="color:red;">**Roosted Roostr squirt $FERT. It’s also science.**</mark>

To produce more resources in the Roost, increase the NFT's KG. This is done for chikn by giving them $FEED and for Roostr by feeding them $EGG. See the section on [Leveling](/gaming/roosting/leveling) for more information.

A bird's roost is its castle, and your Roost is your castle away from… castle? Players can customize the name of their Roost by editing their wallet name—see the section on [CNS & RNS](/nfts/chikn-nft/cns-and-rns) for more details.

<figure><img src="/files/UalCL6VvenXIikcWTsKk" alt=""><figcaption><p>Your Roost is homebase for your chikn and Roostr and is where you can access a number of important ecosystem functions, inlcuding claiming $EGG and $FERT</p></figcaption></figure>

All Roosts collectively make the Barn—the entire collection of roosted chikn and Roostr. To view where your Roost sits on the leaderboard, head to [Chikn > Leaderboard and navigate to the ‘Roost’ tab](https://chikn.farm/leaderboardv2/?tab=roost). Players can see their position at the top and sort the leaderboard by rank, total KG, number of Chikn, average weight per chikn, and estimated daily $EGG.

# Leveling

Leveling is a key component of the Chikn game and the component of the meta that sees the most strategizing. Want to be an $EGG maxi? Fatten those birds as fast as you can. Looking to spread the cost/benefit accross multiple birds? Aim for a high average weight across the entire Roost.

{% hint style="info" %}
A third-party tool, Chikn Strats, provides a great starting point for players looking to explore different leveling strategies. Head to the [Toolboks](/misc/toolboks) for a link to the tool.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:red;">Leveling chikn</mark>

Leveling your chikn is a central part of the Chikn game. Roost your chikn to lay $EGG, stake the $EGG to earn $FEED, feed the $FEED to your chikn to make it bigger and lay more $EGG. It’s simple, really.

<figure><img src="/files/0S4ixvEGkuIU7D7yrn5q" alt=""><figcaption><p>Select 'Feed' to start the leveling process.</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/NuGlrnqBKnPViVeERTay" alt=""><figcaption><p>Insert how much $FEED to give your chikn. You can feed less than the required amount to level, however $FEED over the required amount is forfeit.</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/BFKtTvbOrdWnqgQ7Eiot" alt=""><figcaption><p>Once fed, click 'Level Up!' to level your KG.</p></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/UR5Jmv5qR1gH7pZP9W8X" alt=""><figcaption><p>Wait for the digestion cooldown to finish before feeding again. Alternatively, pay the skip fee to begin right away.</p></figcaption></figure>

Whenever a chikn gains a KG level, the new weight is written permanently to the NFTs metadata. If you transfer the NFT at any point, it’ll move with the upgraded weight.

As your chikn increase their KG, they’ll naturally need more food to stave off the hunger pains. This means they’ll require increasing amounts of $FEED to reach higher levels. See [$FEED Burning](/tokens/feed/feed-burning) for the functions that determine how much $FEED is required to level.

All chikn start with a base weight of 1 KG, where they lay 1 $EGG per day. Increasing the KG of your chikn increases the $EGG laid by 0.25 $EGG per KG per day. Check out the section on [$EGG](/tokens/egg) for more information on $EGG emissions over time.

Your chikn needs time to digest the $FEED you give them. Digestion is a cooldown that triggers whenever a chikn levels and increases in length as the chikn grows in size.

$$
Digestion\ time\ in\ minutes = KG \* 60
$$

<figure><img src="/files/TWrIAk1Ylfl2dP9sIU1K" alt=""><figcaption><p>Digestion time increases with KG</p></figcaption></figure>

A chikn moving from 1 KG to 2 KG requires 60 minutes to digest. A chikn moving from 30 KG to 31 KG requires 1,800 minutes, or 30 hours, to digest.

Digestion can be skipped by burning additional $EGG. The amount of $EGG required also scales with level.

$$
Cost\ in\ $EGG\ to\ skip\ digestion=KG\*3
$$

$EGG emissions aren’t the only thing that will be impacted by chikn KG. Future game releases, including CoqFight and ChiknQuest, will factor weight into their game mechanics. Whether you’re competing at the highest levels with a heavyweight chook or looking to cheese a min-max strat to body low-level noobs, KG is something you need to keep an eye on.

Chikn leveling gained a new dynamic with the full distribution of $FEED rewards. Players have farmed the very last bits of $FEED, and now exchanges are the only place to acquire the tokens needed to level chikn. This change has had a profound impact on the meta as players look to new strategies to level their chikn or to leverage their existing stores of $FEED.

## <mark style="color:red;">Leveling Roostr</mark>

Our very own Coqy Balboas, Roostr, eat $EGG—and lots of it. This protein-rich meal helps your Roostr bulk and level their KG, in turn increasing their $FERT production.

Like chikn, gains to Roostr KG are permanently written to the NFT’s metadata.

Bigger Roostr need to eat more food—the amount of $EGG required to level increases with each KG. The amount of $EGG required is tied to the current weight of the Roostr.

$$
$EGG\ required\ to\ level = KG
$$

To move from 1 KG to 2 KG, players need to burn 1 $EGG. To move from 21 KG to 22 Kg, players need to burn 21 $EGG.

This applies until level 36, at which point the cost to level is capped at 36 $EGG. All subsequent levels will only cost 36 $EGG to achieve.

Growing quickly takes a physical toll on Roostr, which is why they experience GrowingPainz (GP) whenever they level. GP is analogous to digestion in chikn, serving as a cooldown timer that activates when a Roostr levels.

$$
GP\ time\ in\ minutes = KG \* 60
$$

A Roostr moving from 1 KG to 2 KG requires 60 minutes to pass its GP. A Roostr moving from 30 KG to 31 KG requires 1,800 minutes, or 30 hours, to pass its GP.

GP can be skipped by giving your Roostr some $FEED. The amount of $FEED required is linked to its KG—see the section on [$FEED Burning](/tokens/feed/feed-burning) for more information.

Roostr require at least 1 $EGG every 24 hours to produce $FERT. If you don’t feed your Roostr, they’ll keep their KG but their hungry bodies will stop dropping the nutrient-rich fertilizer Chikn farmers love so much. The $EGG you feed your Roostr to keep it squirtin’ $FERT counts towards increasing its level.

{% hint style="info" %}
GP time prevents the Roostr from eating $EGG. If the Roostr’s GP time exceeds 24 hours, it won’t drop any $FERT until it finishes growing—even if you feed it $EGG while the GP timer is on.
{% endhint %}

# Roostr Daycare

<figure><img src="/files/42y7OExfzGeKKOiGSZnR" alt=""><figcaption><p>Roostr Daycare takes the grind out of managing your Roost</p></figcaption></figure>

## <mark style="color:red;">🐓</mark> <mark style="color:red;"></mark>*<mark style="color:red;">Roostr Daycare is now LIVE!</mark>* <mark style="color:red;"></mark><mark style="color:red;">🐓</mark>&#x20;

Being a single Chikn farmer is hard work, and making sure your hungry Roostr get fed every single day can be an arduous task. Fortunately, Roostr Daycare can take the stress out of tending to your flock, so that you can focus on what’s important.

Roostr Daycare allows players to make managing their Roostr a passive activity. Players send their Roostr into the Daycare and watch as they’re fed their daily $EGG by our hardworking smart contracts. Roostr Daycare will also collect $FERT automatically and level Roostr as required.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Roostr Daycare is currently in beta. If you have feedback or notice any bugs, please raise a ticket in [Discord](https://discord.com/invite/9znHkBYjra).
{% endhint %}

***

### Quickstart 🐣

1. Head to [chikn.farm](https://chikn.farm/roost/?tab=daycare) and navigate to the Roost.
2. Select the Daycare tab.
3. Deploy the Daycare contract and finish the setup. Note that it can take a few minutes for the contract to deploy and sync, so if you can't deposit after you launch, give it a few seconds, refresh, then try again.
4. Top up your $EGG balance with enough to feed your hungry bois and ensure there's enough $AVAX to cover gas.
5. Approve the contract with your Roostr and enrol them in Daycare.
6. Check back regularly to claim your $FERT!

***

Roostr Daycare is a custodial service—you’ll need to transfer your Roostr into the Daycare’s contract. Players can withdraw their Roostr at any time, however they won’t have access to them for Foraging while in Daycare, nor be able to list them in the marketplace.

The Daycare service checks all Roostr twice per day to ensure they’ve had their fill of $EGG.

* Roostr that have already eaten within the 12 hour window won't need to eat again.
* Roostr that are feeling hungry are given enough $EGG to level them (and then levelled automatically).
* Roostr that are within the GP cooldown window are not fed until they're ready to level again.

The Daycare claims $FERT twice per day when the Roostr are fed. This $FERT is added to the Daycare’s wallet with a record of who it belongs to. Players can enter the Daycare and claim any held $FERT whenever they want.&#x20;

{% hint style="success" %}
Because the Daycare claims $FERT during feeding windows, balances are updated every 12 hours. If you claim your $FERT, you’ll need to wait until the next feeding window passes before you can claim the next batch.
{% endhint %}

For the Daycare to take proper care of all the handsome coqs, players will need to ensure that they’ve deposited sufficient $EGG to cover the needs of their Roostr. When the player enters the Daycare UI, they can see how many days their deposited $EGG will last and top up if needed. Players will also need to deposit some $AVAX to cover gas fees while the Roostr are being looked after.

The Daycare will take a fee for providing this crucial service—fair compensation for necessary work. Players are charged an additional 12% of $EGG when birds are fed, taken from their Daycare balance.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Each Daycare wallet has an individual Daycare contract linked to it. You only need to deploy this once, but it is possible in some rare circumstances for multiple contracts to be created.

If you find yourself in this situation and can't access your Roostr, you can manually withdraw your birds via [the legacy LP portal](https://chikn.farm/lpwithdraw). Click 'Withdraw all' and add your brood again.
{% endhint %}

# Roosting Guide

To Roost any bird, navigate to your Roost by selecting [Chikn > Roost](https://chikn.farm/roost/) on chikn.farm. From here, you can select the Roostr tab to view your Roostr as well (or navigate there directly by selecting [Roostr > Roost](https://chikn.farm/roost/?tab=roostr) in the top navigation bar).

The Roost will display all roosted and unroosted birds in your wallet. You can change the view to display all or only those that are roosted or unroosted.

To Roost an unroosted bird, select ‘Roost’ on the NFT’s icon. You can also select ‘Roost All’ to Roost all unroosted birds at once.

To Unroost a roosted bird, select ‘Unroost’ on the NFT’s icon. You can also select ‘Unroost All’ to unroost all roosted birds in one fell swoop. Note that unroosting will automatically claim all unclaimed $EGG, however any unclaimed $FEED will be forfeited.

{% hint style="info" %}
At this stage, most chikn and Roostr are already roosted. If you purchase an NFT from the marketplace, there’s a fairly good chance it’ll already be in the Roost. This means that you **will not** have to reroost it—it’ll automatically continue producing tokens in your Roost.
{% endhint %}

# Farming

<figure><img src="/files/hY0gozDgj5zmd5roAvcw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Farming is an essential part of Chikn gameplay, allowing players to earn reward tokens that they can use throughout the ecosystem.

Farming has two primary forms: LP Farming and Single-Sided Staking (SSS).

SSS was the first form of staking to launch and saw players stake $EGG tokens to earn $FEED. Players used the $FEED to grow their chikn, allowing them to lay more $EGG which could be added to SSS to produce even more $FEED. It’s the holy trinity of passive gameplay that underscored the original Tri-Token Architecture of the ecosystem.

Today, LP Farming is the primary way players earn tokens, although SSS is still running in a limited capacity. SSS will be renewed in future updates once $FEED rewards have been fully distributed.

No NFTs are required for Farming, although players looking to maximize their returns usually opt to activate at least one FarmLand NFT. FarmLand enable players to increase their Silo capacity and increase their farm fertility, in turn allowing them to accumulate more rewards at a faster rate.

For more information on LP Farming, including details on Silos, reward rates, and fertility, see the relevant sections under LP Farm in the FarmLand NFT section.

# Farming Contracts

There are several LP Farm contracts and one Single-Sided Staking (SSS) contract.&#x20;

* <mark style="color:red;">**EGG/AVAX (V3)**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0x160F701AB5Bc84Dd65CE1174D2022EdC1b128C5F</mark>\
  The EGG/AVAX (V3) pool is currently being phased out. Players are encouraged to migrate to the EGG/AVAX (Dual Rewards) pool as soon as possible.
* <mark style="color:red;">**EGG/AVAX (Dual Rewards)**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0x85fdca3741395b7f9faa70bf7cc40f4ac89127ff</mark>\
  The most recent pool to release, the EGG/AVAX (Dual Rewards) pool is the fourth iteration of the popular EGG/AVAX pool and allowed players to earn both $FEED and $WORM rewards simultaneously. The smart contract architecture allows the Chikn team to add and remove reward tokens without redeploying the contract, meaning that new tokens that enter the Chikn ecosystem can be added to the farm without requiring players to migrate to a new pool. Note that $FEED rewards have run out.
* <mark style="color:red;">**FERT/AVAX (Dual Rewards)**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0x8a9a93d2dea7dec5340de4cdafffb57a398e488b</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">**FERT/AVAX**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0x5a436a2715e9BED9e7F90815d5c6Ab967790d0AB</mark>\
  Players are encouraged to move their staked tokens to the FERT/AVAX (Dual Rewards) pool as soon as possible.
* <mark style="color:red;">**FEED/AVAX (Dual Rewards)**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0xa268bb74031aa9de6e8cfca89709884646eb938f</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">**FEED/AVAX**</mark>\ <mark style="color:orange;">0x5B0FF1aAcDa53fd80FBB2ED9A05DAac41F182021</mark>\
  Players are encouraged to move their staked tokens to the FEED/AVAX (Dual Rewards) pool as soon as possible.

<figure><img src="/files/zOTssXsXAscDlmK7dc8p" alt=""><figcaption><p>Players can choose among several LP Farms. Note that these contracts can change from time to time - check with the community on Discord if you're unsure which pool is the most recent.</p></figcaption></figure>

There are additional legacy LP Farm contracts that are no longer in use. These farms were phased out as the smart contracts governing the pool were upgraded. Note that these farms are no longer generating rewards—players should migrate to an active pool as soon as possible.

* <mark style="color:red;">**EGG/AVAX (V1)**</mark>
* <mark style="color:red;">**EGG/AVAX (V2)**</mark>

Legacy pools can be accessed by navigating to the [Legacy LP](https://chikn.farm/lpwithdraw) section in the footer menu on chikn.farm. Players can use the UI to withdraw their LP tokens from these pools.

# Fertilizing

Fertility is an upgradable feature of FarmLand NFTs, allowing players to permanently increase their LP Farm reward multiplier by burning $FERT. Fertility upgrades are written to the metadata of the FarmLand NFT and are featured on FarmLand available in the marketplace.

<figure><img src="/files/c2vKRle95uBjWx571KDI" alt=""><figcaption><p>Increasing the fertility multiplier costs $FERT and increases LP Farm reward rates.</p></figcaption></figure>

By default, all FarmLand (and players farming without a FarmLand) have a 4x multiplier that applies to their reward rate. Burning $FERT increases this multiplier in steps of 0.25x, up to a maximum fertility multiplier of 16x.

Fertility mechanics are explored in detail in the sections [$FERT Burning](/tokens/fert/fert-burning) and [LP Farm](/nfts/farmland-nft/lp-farm).

# Single-Sided Staking (SSS)

Single-Sided Staking (SSS) allows players to farm rewards without providing liquidity to an exchange. Rather than staking LP tokens, players can instead stake a single asset to earn rewards. SSS is a simpler alternative to LP Farming for players that are unfamiliar with liquidity provision.

SSS is not always available, and reward rates will generally be lower than on LP Farms. The first SSS option in the Chikn ecosystem allowed players to stake $EGG to generate $FEED rewards. To encourage players to use the LP Farms in the FarmLand release, the reward multiplier was reduced to 2x over time.

<figure><img src="/files/aPcFUMVB7ZCtp4VHNCUJ" alt=""><figcaption><p>SSS only requries a single token, rather than a pair</p></figcaption></figure>

$EGG tokens in LP are bundled up with soft, cushiony $AVAX. Unfortunately, $EGG staked in SSS have no such padding and are therefore a little more fragile. Players unstaking $EGG from SSS can expect an 8.3% breakage penalty—we’ve all fumbled the bag before, after all.

Unstaking $EGG from SSS automatically claims all unclaimed rewards.

The SSS portal can be accessed through the player's Roost.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
SSS is currently closed for new deposits—players are encouraged to explore LP Farms instead. SSS may reopen again after $FEED rewards are fully distributed.
{% endhint %}

# Farming Guide

Farming requires players to stake certain tokens to earn rewards. As discussed previously, this can be both Trader Joe LP tokens or single assets.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Single-Sided Staking (SSS) Guide**</mark>

To access SSS, players must navigate to their Roost. On chikn.farm, select [Chikn > Roost](https://chikn.farm/roost/?tab=chikn).

The SSS panel is on the right-hand side of the screen, beneath claimable $EGG and next to the Roost display.

<figure><img src="/files/xgeii0y9DUS3abP2ebSY" alt=""><figcaption><p>Location of the SSS interface in the Roost</p></figcaption></figure>

SSS is currently closed for deposits. This guide will be updated with staking instructions when it reopens again.

Players with tokens already in SSS can still access the panel to claim any accumulated rewards and to withdraw their staked $EGG. To withdraw tokens, enter the amount you’d like to unstake (or select ‘Max’ to withdraw all staked $EGG) and click ‘Unstake’.

Eggies are delicate, and one in every dozen will break upon unstaking—this equates to an 8.3% penalty. All broken $EGG are permanently burned.

{% hint style="info" %}
Breakage and unstaking penalties do not apply to LP Farms.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:red;">**LP Farming Guide**</mark>

The basic process for LP Farming is the same for players with FarmLand and those without. First, head to chikn.farm and navigate to [FarmLand > LP Farm](https://chikn.farm/farming).

If you have an inactive FarmLand, activate it. Click the desired FarmLand and choose ‘activate’. You’ll need to activate each FarmLand against every pair you’d like to farm.

<figure><img src="/files/wpUEaHorhYJ7LVZjxdfP" alt=""><figcaption><p>Activate a pair on your desired FarmLand before depositing LP tokens.</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Most FarmLand are already activiated on primary pairs—if you purchased a FarmLand NFT from the marketplace you may not need to do this step.
{% endhint %}

Next, select the FarmLand you would like to add LP tokens to. If you’re farming without FarmLand, skip this step.

LP Farming requires players to add liquidity to accepted Trader Joe pairs. Have a look through the available pairs and identify the one that suits you. In general, the <mark style="color:red;">**EGG/AVAX (Dual Rewards)**</mark> pool has the best available rewards.

Head to [Trader Joe.xyz](https://traderjoexyz.com/) and add liquidity to the desired pair. <mark style="color:red;">**Note that this guide assumes that players have experience with liquidity provision and understand the risks associated with it.**</mark>

{% hint style="danger" %}
Anyone can deploy contracts to a decentralized exchange, including the bad people launching fake tokens. Always double-check the token addresses against those listed in the footer at chikn.farm or here in these docs.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/ClMhiUPs1aOH6rCG45j2" alt=""><figcaption><p>Add liquidity to the desired pair on Trader Joe</p></figcaption></figure>

With your fresh Trader Joe liquidity tokens (JLP) in hand, head back to your farm. Select the pool you’d like to farm from, approve the contract to access tokens in your wallet, select the number of tokens you’d like to stake, and hit ‘Deposit’.

{% hint style="info" %}
The approval process for Chikn LP Farms is slightly different from a lot of other LP farms. Instead of approving for an unlimited amount, the user approves up to a specified amount of tokens that can be deposited or withdrawn. This means if the smart contract is ever compromised, the potential damage is limited by the approved amount.
{% endhint %}

Once added, your Farm will automatically begin accumulating rewards.

<figure><img src="/files/Sb0QtFjtXFs8CvZeRmtM" alt=""><figcaption><p>Check your staked LP by navigating to the 'Withdraw' tab. You can withdraw LP at any time.</p></figcaption></figure>

**Remember, once your Silo is full, you won’t be able to earn any additional rewards.** Make sure you empty it before it fills, or upgrade your FarmLand to increase its Silo size.

To earn rewards faster, increase the fertility of your FarmLand. See the section on Fertilizing for more information.

If you don’t have a FarmLand, your LP Farm’s fertility and silo capacity will be fixed at the minimum values and cannot be upgraded. To hold more rewards in the silo or to earn rewards faster, consider becoming a titled Chikn landholder by purchasing a FarmLand NFT.

To withdraw, head back to the pair you added LP tokens to, select the ‘Withdraw’ tab, enter the amount you’d like to take out, and press ‘Withdraw’. When you withdraw JLP from a farm it will automatically claim any tokens held in your silo.

Players with multiple FarmLand can choose which ones they want to use for LP Farming. Simply activate the FarmLand you’d like to use and add or withdraw LP tokens as you need.

# Foraging

<figure><img src="/files/E6dNbizwK8Nr3nqBaHr9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Chikn and Roostr are adventurous birds, and keeping them cooped up in the Roost is no way to treat such glamorous poultry. Our avian friends long to range over the many tiles on your FarmLand, eating seeds and generally having a pretty great time.

We believe all chikn deserve a chance to be free-range, and Foraging enables just that. Announced in September 2022, Foraging introduces more advanced gameplay mechanics to Chikn and sets the scene for all game releases to come.

Foraging takes place on FarmLand and involves several different mechanics. It also introduced $WORM and WormFarm to the game, both of which will play an increasingly important role in Chikn after the full distribution of $FEED.

Foraging allows players to set their birds free to forage on their FarmLand. Over the course of some hours, the chikn and Roostr will explore all of the tiles available with a chance of returning with a valuable Resource. Any chikn can forage, while Roostr must be at least 24 KG to adventure into the wilderness.

<figure><img src="/files/FXXSZ6X4uzXZSq6vR9i9" alt=""><figcaption><p>The distance a chikn can travel in a day shocks most people</p></figcaption></figure>

Resources are the primary components in Crafting. To craft, players use Blueprints to create Items using certain Resources and tokens. These items can be used to boost the traits and stats of Chikn ecosystem NFTs in minigames.

While the birds roam the surface, a subterranean civilization grows below. Beneath your FarmLand is your WormFarm—home to industrious $WORM that LP Farmers collect. Digging your WormFarm to new depths reveals Blueprints and other rewards, and filling WormFarm with $WORM allows players to retrieve these goodies. Adding $WORM to the WormFarm increases your Wormcount, a key metric that in turn reduces foraging time for chikn and Roostr.

When a player decides to create a new Item from a Blueprint or wishes to get some Resources back from an Item through Decomposing, some $WORM are sadly lost in the process. This is taken from the player’s Wormcount, encouraging them to maintain at least enough $WORM to meet their needs.

See [$WORM](/tokens/worm) and [WormFarm](/nfts/farmland-nft/wormfarm) for more information on those components.

# Starter Guide & Off-chain Architecture

Foraging and it's related features, including WormFarm, take place off-chain. This reduces the burden on the blockchain and allows players to save on gas while playing.

To begin foraging, players need at least one active FarmLand NFT and at least one chikn or one Roostr above 24 KG. Note that these NFTs will remain on-chain while engaged in Foraging.

<mark style="color:red;">**There are three tokens used in Foraging: $EGG, $FERT and $WORM.**</mark> Players can add $EGG and $FERT to their off-chain balance by heading to chikn.farm and navigating to [FarmLand > Foraging](https://chikn.farm/forage). At the top of the screen, click the wallet icon next to your $EGG or $FERT totals to move tokens into your Foraging balance.

<figure><img src="/files/TpPIemV0TaxjkOpTpdDl" alt=""><figcaption><p>Off-chain balances need to be topped up from your wallet</p></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="warning" %}
When moving tokens off-chain to use with Foraging, the tokens are burned from the blockchain and the equivalent balance is added to your off-chain holdings. There is currently no way to return those tokens to the blockchain, although this feature may be added in a future release.
{% endhint %}

Select the FarmLand you’d like to Forage on to view its stats. Different tiles provide different Resources, with the base forage chance displayed in the interface.

<div><figure><img src="/files/zzWKYaYp0S0NDy5XhDR8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/u1ZkdvwksVuDDGigrnH1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

To send a bird foraging, head to the interface beneath your FarmLand display. You can send one chikn or Roostr to forage per tile on your FarmLand (excluding the starting Barn tile). For example, a FarmLand with 14 unlocked tiles (excluding the Barn) would be able to send 14 chikn and Roostr to forage at any one time.

<figure><img src="/files/BxFpKamir6M2NHKEQq4H" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Nothing in life is free—it costs 6 $EGG per chikn and 60 $FERT per Roostr to start a forage. This is taken from your off-chain token balance.

The time taken to complete a forage depends on several factors. Check the section on [Foraging Time](/gaming/foraging/foraging-time) for more details.

When foraging, every bird will explore every tile on the FarmLand in search of resources. The chance of a successful forage depends on the type and rarity of the FarmLand tile, the traits of the bird foraging on it, as well as any modifiers applied to boost the chance of success. See [Resources](/gaming/foraging/resources) for more details.

WormFarms help reduce foraging time and are an essential part of Crafting. WormFarms exist beneath individual FarmLand and have several components that contribute to their impact on the game. See the sections on [WormFarm](/nfts/farmland-nft/wormfarm) and [$WORM](/tokens/worm) for more information, including information on WormFarm size, maximum Wormcount, and digging.

For $WORM to be utilized in Foraging, including for Crafting, they need to be added to your WormFarm. Remember, WormFarms exist on a per-FarmLand basis—if you have more than one FarmLand, make sure you’re adding $WORM to the one you want.

To access your WormFarm, navigate to [FarmLand > Worm Farm](https://chikn.farm/forage/?tab=wormfarm), or select the tab on from the side of the Foraging interface.

To add $WORM to your WormFarm, select any unfilled block and click ‘Deploy Worm’. The interface will display how much $WORM is needed to fill that block—you can add less if you want, but any $WORM in excess of your maximum capacity will be forfeited.

<figure><img src="/files/HSTvPmgXdlebD78FI8cs" alt=""><figcaption><p>Deply $WORM to fill your WormFarm and claim any goodies at that depth</p></figcaption></figure>

When $WORM is added to your WormFarm, it’s burned from your on-chain holdings and added to your off-chain Wormcount.

{% hint style="warning" %}
$WORM can not be re-minted to the blockchain from your WormFarm—your little wriglers will resist being taken from their soily homes.
{% endhint %}

With Resources and $WORM in hand (or in dirt?), players can begin crafting Items. There are two types of Items: <mark style="color:red;">**Equipables**</mark> and <mark style="color:red;">**Consumables**</mark>. Equipables require a Blueprint to craft, while all Consumables recipes are unlocked after digging and filling a WormFarm to a depth of 5.

Players can move Equipable Items on-chain to trade as NFTs by minting them. See [the subsection under Items](/gaming/foraging/items#minting-items) for more information.

Players can choose to get Resources back from unwanted Items by decomposing them. See [Decomposing](/gaming/foraging/decomposing) for more information.

# Resources

<figure><img src="/files/ObJRpzn5oV7PmlB5u4fT" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

There are currently 10 Resources that your birds can forage for with varying probabilities of success.

There is no guarantee that your chikn or Roostr will successfully forage on a tile, although the chance of success is calculated independently for each. While the base percentage chance for all tiles is fixed, there are several ways players can improve the probability of success.

* Most tiles provide a boost of between 0.5% and 2.5% to their associated Resource. Rarer tiles provide higher bonuses—see the [FarmLand Tiles](https://chikn.farm/farmTraits) page on chikn.farm for a list of all tiles and their impact on Foraging.
* Players can fertilize individual tiles by burning $FERT, providing an increase of up to 10%. Fertilizer boosts last 28 days before requiring refertilization.
* Individual chikn and Roostr traits increase the chance of finding particular linked Resources. The rarer the trait, the higher the boost. Players can select their individual birds to see which Resources they receive boosts to and by how much. Resource display can also be toggled on in the Marketplace.
* Players can use Items to improve their chance of success. There are several ways Items can impact foraging, from making a resource available on a blank tile to changing tile and bird bonus percentages. See the section on Items for more information.

Players looking for a specific Resource they don’t currently have access to can browse available FarmLand in the Marketplace with the Resource view toggled on. Alternatively, they can filter results by specific tiles to look for FarmLand with the tiles they desire.

<figure><img src="/files/XilCfZfRqsAMilYjbWOV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

FarmLand will unlock new tiles until they reach a maximum 5x5 grid. Players with FarmLand with room to grow can continue increasing its Bigness to unlock new tiles, although as FarmLand tiles are randomly assigned it is impossible to determine ahead of time which tile will unlock.

# Foraging Time

Each chikn and Roostr have individual Foraging times that determine how quickly they’ll come back from a forage. As Item production can be quite competitive among players, those that can complete more forages in less time will have an advantage when it comes to Crafting.

<figure><img src="/files/WLTjrJob5A0ms5acM0NV" alt=""><figcaption><p>Estimated forage time is displayed beneath each bird</p></figcaption></figure>

There are several factors that impact the time taken to forage:

* Bird weight
* Wormcount
* Items

Foraging has a default time of between 23 and 24 hours. When a bird initiates a forage, the total foraging time is randomly assigned within a one-hour window. Foraging times have a hard floor of 4 hours—little chikn legs cannot run faster than this speed (for now).

In rebellion against intuition and physics, bigger chikn and Roostr forage faster than smaller birds. Maybe they’ve got bigger claws to scratch around with, we haven’t quite figured out the lore on that one.

**Foraging time reduces by 1 minute per KG ,so keep those birds bulking.**

Increasing the Wormcount in a Wor Farm also provides a universal reduction in Foraging time on the associated FarmLand. Players can hover over individual blocks in their WormFarm to see the reduction that they would receive at that Wormount.

<figure><img src="/files/u4tfVcngtox9QGqoWXNL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If your Wormcount reduces (e.g. $WORM are consumed in Crafting), the foraging speed boost will also decrease. Make sure you keep those Worm Farms stocked with $WORM to keep your foraging times down.

Certain Consumable and Equipable Items will provide speed boosts to Foraging. For more information, see Items.

# Items

There are two types of Items: Consumables and Equipables. Think of them like potions and equipment in your favorite RPG—Consumables have a fixed number of uses before they run out, while Equipables will give longer-lasting perks before eventually breaking. Check the sub-section on [Wear](#wear) for more information on breakage.

{% hint style="info" %}
In the chikn.farm interface, you might see Consumables and Equipables referred to as <mark style="color:red;">‘Sips’</mark> and <mark style="color:red;">‘Equips’</mark>.
{% endhint %}

<figure><img src="/files/4Hu2FjFroFeXRnXC6UCz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Consumables are equipped to your NFTs based on their upgraded stats. Bigger FarmLand, chikn and Roostr can hold more Consumables, although you’ll need to burn some $EGG to unlock additional Item slots. Consumables only exist off-chain in your inventory and cannot be traded between players.\
  The first slot is unlocked with 12 $EGG at any bird weight. The second slot costs 600 $EGG and requires a 60 KgG NFT, while the third slot costs 1200 $EGG and requires a 120 KG bird. This is the same for both chikn and Roostr.
* Equipables are attached to blank trait slots on your NFTs and can exist both off- and on-chain. To use an Equipable Item, it’ll need to be in your off-chain inventory. Equip them to your FarmLand, chikn or Roostr to gain some sweet boosts, or Decompose them to get additional resources. In-game, you’ll be able to tell if an Item is off-chain by its icon—off-chain Items are represented visually with square icons.

On-chain Equipable Items are held in your wallet. You can’t use them in Foraging, however you can hustle them on the open market. On-chain Items are represented visually as rectangular cards.

Items are an important part of the Chikn gaming ecosystem and impact gameplay in various ways. As the ecosystem grows and changes in the future, new Items will arrive that have an exciting impact on player strategies. To learn about what each item can do, check your Crafting interface in-game for Consumables or explore the full range of Blueprints on the Marketplace.

<figure><img src="/files/zVmbDYaUwbT2E5kdsNMY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Over time, some items will become unavailable while new ones are introduced. This allows the Chikn devs to moderate gameplay and ensure the ecosystem stays on track and in the right direction.
{% endhint %}

In Foraging, for example, there are currently 6 ways to influence the outcome of a forage with Items.

* Change the Resource from a tile/trait (including blank tiles)
* Change the Resource total percentage
* Change the bird bonus percentage
* Change foraging time
* Forage multiple times on a tile per forage
* Change the number of chikn and Roostr that can forage

<figure><img src="/files/5hHgWp1PEl9TwfTlf1kx" alt=""><figcaption><p>Use the crafting interface to create Sips and Equips. The resources required to produce each Item are displayed on the right.</p></figcaption></figure>

As more gameplay elements are introduced, new Items will become available that allow players to hone their playstyle to their tastes. For example, items might give strength or defense bonuses in CoqFight, or allow players to heal mid-battle.

## <mark style="color:red;">**Supply Cap**</mark>

Some Items have a global supply cap that limits the number of times they can be crafted by players. Once this supply cap gets hit, that’s it—players can no longer craft the Item from a Blueprint and can only purchase them from the marketplace.

Supply caps play an important role in keeping Item NFT supplies in check and add another element to the overall crafting meta. In-demand Items that have hit their cap will attract higher prices on the market, while other players will innovate and devise new strategies to fill the gap.

Even if an Item hits its cap, that doesn’t mean its function is gone from the game entirely. The Chikn team will release new Items and Blueprints as needed that aim to fill the gaps created by capped Items. These will normally be variations that also serve to guide the ecosystem in the right direction.

<figure><img src="/files/OMgvw22BgSs7VfUQ3DMH" alt=""><figcaption><p>Both Items and Blueprints display the current supply in relation to the cap. Players can also see this information from their crafting interface.</p></figcaption></figure>

## <mark style="color:red;">**Minting Items**</mark>

{% hint style="success" %}
*Updated 15/12/2023*
{% endhint %}

Equipable Items start their life in your off-chain inventory, but at some point, you may want to show them the wild world of Item trading in the marketplace. To trade Items, you’ll need to move them on-chain by minting them.

Minting Items from your inventory to your wallet costs $EGG and $WORM and is limited by a 24-hour cooldown. You can skip this cooldown by offering 2500 $WORM to the Chikn gods.

There is no fee to move Items off-chain and there is no cooldown. When you move an Item off-chain, the Item NFT is burned and the equivalent Item appears in your inventory.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Moving Items on- and off-chain won’t impact the global supply cap for that Item.
{% endhint %}

## <mark style="color:red;">**Wear**</mark>

All craftable Items have limited uses that decrease with every associated bird that is sent to forage while that Item is in use. For Consumables, this is represented by the Item’s uses. Once a Consumable is used the maximum number of times, it’s removed from your inventory.

Conditions on the farm can be rough and varied, and chikn are not known for keeping their gear in good shape. Equipable Items will experience wear every time they’re used in a forage, accumulating until they break. You’ll get more life out of an Equipable than a Consumable, but when an Equipable breaks its effects will no longer work.

From the soil all things come, and to the soil all things return. Broken Items aren’t that useful to have around, but luckily they can be decomposed into their constituent Resources. If you’re not feeling up to the task, you can sell the broken Item to other players by moving it on-chain and listing it on the marketplace.

<figure><img src="/files/BHpIGU0Ok3W1CyMQOkRs" alt=""><figcaption><p>Always check an Item's usage (an indication of Wear) before buying it from the marketplace</p></figcaption></figure>

Items with more wear return fewer Resouces when decomposed, with broken items returning the fewest Resources and Items in perfect condition returning the most (although never 100% of those that went into crafting it). Keep an eye on wear and make sure you’re considering the optimal time to Decompose in your strategy

# Blueprints

<div><figure><img src="/files/5W6cJc9zAeaIYlJGCK1T" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/OhUo0gnfBkgkj7mEc86F" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure> <figure><img src="/files/SQT1AmCTNLphsqnQrYMa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Blueprints are NFTs that allow the holder to craft a corresponding Equipable Item. They are held on-chain in your wallet and can be traded on the Chikn marketplace.

Rarer Blueprints either create rarer Items or result in more items crafted in a single event.

Some Items have a limited global supply. <mark style="color:red;">Once the global supply cap is reached, players won’t be able to craft any more of that Item and must instead purchase them from the secondary market.</mark> The total supply of each Blueprint is 10% of the maximum supply of the Item it can craft (which is counted across both on-chain and off-chain Items). See [Items](/gaming/foraging/items) for more information on this cap.

There’s no limit to the number of times you can craft from a Blueprint, as long as the Item supply cap hasn’t been reached.

Blueprints are discovered as you dig through your WormFarm. Once a Blueprint is found, you’ll need to fill your WormFarm with $WORM to the depth of the Blueprint in order to recover it.

# Crafting

<figure><img src="/files/5BNHhsNlgmsxapjsq2xe" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Crafting has two separate paths for Equipable and Consumable Items, both of which require Resources and tokens to produce.

You can craft an Equipable Item when you have the corresponding Blueprint, the requisite resources, plus the required $EGG, $FERT, and $WORM tokens.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Consumable Items don’t require Blueprints and can all instead be crafted once you reach 5 tiles in your WormFarm.
{% endhint %}

Crafting occurs on a per FarmLand/WormFarm basis. The $WORM cost for crafting is taken from the WormFarm you’re crafting on, so be sure you’re putting the right worm to work.

When you craft an Item, there’s a cooldown on that WormFarm before you can craft again. You can skip this by sacrificing more $WORM or by crafting on a separate WormFarm. Again, the $WORM cost for the cooldown skip is taken from the WormFarm you crafted on.

$$
Cost\ to\ Skip\ in\ $WORM = 2500
$$

Crafting Items is done in the off-chain component of the Foraging game. When you craft an Item, it’ll first appear in your off-chain inventory. If you want to trade Items with other players, you’ll need to move them back on-chain—see the [Items](/gaming/foraging/items) section for more information on minting.

Remember, Items that have hit their global supply cap can’t have any more crafted.

# Decomposing

Worm are hungry and eager to dismantle the Items their brethren lost their lives to craft. Decomposing allows players to return their Items to the soil to get back some of the Resources that went into crafting them.

Decomposing takes time and costs $WORM, the exact numbers of which decided by the wear of the Item. You can skip the decomposition time by paying 5x the $WORM cost to instantly secure your Resources.

{% hint style="info" %}
*Updated 15/12/2023*
{% endhint %}

<mark style="color:red;">Costs to Decompose:</mark>

* Pristine = 5000 $WORM
* Fresh = 1200 $WORM
* Used = 750 $WORM
* Worn = 500 $WORM
* Cooked = 250 $WORM
* Broken = 100 $WORM

You can skip the decomposition cooldown by paying more $WORM for an instant decomposition.

$$
$WORM\ Cost\ to\ Instant\ Decompose = Decompose\ Cost\* 5
$$

The amount of Resources you get back from an Item depends on its wear. Broken Items return the fewest Resources, while Items in perfect nick give back the most.&#x20;

You’ll never get back 100% of the constituent Resources. Your worm aren’t fans of ‘change of mind’ policies.

<mark style="color:red;">Decomposition Rates:</mark>

* Pristine = 75%
* Fresh = 60%
* Used = 50%
* Worn = 30%
* Cooked = 15%
* Broken = 5%

Unlike the other API endpoints that rely on on-chain token IDs for identifying unique NFTs, the off-chain foraging endpoints use a combination of different IDs to return results. It’s important to know which ID to use and when.

#### **TokenID**

An on-chain token ID that can be found using chain explorers.

#### BaseID

A universal placeholder that identifies an item in the foraging system before a unique instance of the item being crafted. BaseIDs can be found in the [Crafting > Blueprints](/appendix/crafting) section of the Appendix documentation (use the HEX Base ID value).

#### InternalID

A specific instance of an item in the off-chain foraging game.

When an Item is crafted, the system uses the BaseID to create an InternalID of that item’s instance. When the item is moved on-chain, a TokenID is minted along with it.

Blueprints are minted directly to wallets and so do not have an InternalID.

### Unix Epoch

Some APIs reference time periods displayed as a Unix Epoch. This timestamp can be found by using a converter.

# Brand Assets

The following Drive contains an array of Chikn branded assets.

* Only use Chikn trademarks or assets where it benefits the Chikn brand
* Do not use Chikn trademarks or assets in connection with any illegal activities
* Maintain aspect ratios and do not stretch or skew logos
* Try to maintain image quality when using Chikn assets (unless you're deep frying something dank in the meme kitchen)
